Now, Part Two,
Do you want to know a little, or a lot, about how this Tarot Verbatim™ thing works? If so,
*Go to Learn Tarot by Observing section below. This tells about the combined four pictures in the Tarot Readings – the pictures above here. It explains how these four cards get together in your mind to make the messages.
*Go to Learn Tarot by Pictures. It is what each of the four cards, by itself, has to say. It shows you how that illustration makes that card’s meanings in today’s Spread. All the words of each Tarot card reading you see here are a phrase-by-phrase translation of the scene pictured on those cards: no filler, no psychic impressions, no spirit guide. Word-for-word Tarot Verbatim™.
You can put all this together and intuitively see yourself how Tarot Verbatim™ works.
This is a group reading, with no Questioner and no Question to limit what the cards say, so there’s more variety – even contradictions – and also the pronouns are more flexible. If it feels like it’s yours, and it says ‘he,’ and you’re a ‘she,’ feel free to adopt it anyway.

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING
.
It’s easy to see the picture here of The Benefactor, the charismatic influential man who’s head of the clan, who’s the strategist and the manipulator, who makes things happen, who gives the good life to his children, to his friends, and who enjoys power. I think of him as Winston Churchill, the Italian stallion, and Al Capone, myself. Often, but not always, he has money and title. He is often the banker or bankster or financier or marketeer, the dealmaker and the politician. But he can be the fella who hustles pool down at the bar and deals grass on the side or the police chief with a racket. Often, he is flashy. King of Pentacles has no shred of humility in his soul.
Wheel of Fortune and King of Pentacles go together. King of Pentacles makes things happen, and Wheel of Fortune is all about things happening, good things unless otherwise specifically stated. Together, these two Rider Waite cards, in Tarot Verbatim, say “lucky enough to be in control of your life.” He is also a man who is lucky. Maybe he won the lottery, because he’s rich and Wheel of Fortune can be gambling or a lottery.
Wheel of Fortune is miracle, jackpot, destiny, karma, good luck or ‘lucking out,’ the role of randomness and coincidence in our physical lives and the role of nonphysical entities, both divine and infernal, in our spiritual, mental and physical lives. (Wheel of Fortune and Nine of Cups are the ‘good’ cards you like to see in your reading: luck, and getting what you want.)
And speaking of getting what you want and lucking out, here are the lucky children of Big Daddy, the benefactor. King of Pentacles and Six of Cups: He is the little girl’s or little boy’s hero.
Six of Cups shows the established family scene from old-fashioned times. A little boy gives a little girl, maybe a sibling, flowers. They are very well-dressed and an estate, an old-fashioned building, is behind them. The good children have the good life. Getting a gift or present, or giving one, is one of Six of Cups’ meanings.
It has a few more too. Romance. A man is in love and gives his girl a birthday present or love gift. They have the sweet life together. There is trust between them. Sentimentality – all things warm and fuzzy. Trust and good people are Six of Cups territory.
Six of Cups is about the past, usually in a good way (not always, if other cards are dominant). Old nostalgic memories. Loves of the past. Old times. Old places you have been, including where you grew up (whether those are good memories or not), childhood.
Six of Cups is a real estate card too. A good neighborhood, a safe neighborhood. A cozy house, a cottage, a quaint house (Victorian, Gingerbread). Home is where the heart is.
‘Bequeath’ is one of Six of Cups’ words. Give to the children; the siblings get the house. Inheritance meanings pretty much have to be in the question to bring out this phase of Six of Cups’ repertoire.
Right in the middle of the story is Ten of Wands. The meanings it contributes to our today story are these: (1) difficulty or taking on the burden; (2) long term or long time – ‘eventually’; (3) extremely or ‘plenty of,’ which sometimes translates ‘big.’
(1) King of Pentacles and Ten of Wands, the difficulty of becoming that wealthy established leader of men. He took on that responsibility, that burden.
(2) ‘Eventually, it happens’ says Ten of Wands and Wheel of Fortune. Ten of Wands and Six of Cups suggest the deep past, long ago and far away, and would also express eventually having children, or being a child way too long.
(3) Ten of Wands can simply mean ‘big’ as in King of Pentacles and Ten of Wands being the big man or Big Daddy – which is part of the ‘extremely’ theme of meanings for Ten of Wands. The ‘extremely’ meaning arises from the extreme amount of boards on the fellow’s back. Another example of Ten of Wands meaning ‘big’ is Ten of Wands and Wheel of Fortune saying ‘big chance.’
It’s easy to see a well-off fella making the good life happen for the kids , isn’t it? And how that’s a big thing that might be difficult and take a long time.

.
King of Pentacles is the manipulator and the strategist, maybe the politician or bankster, the well off successful charismatic studly dude ‘all the girls want.’ Think Al Capone. Think Prince Charming. And yes, this is an Italianesque Rider Waite Tarot card.
Ten of Wands speaks of the extreme, of taking it all on all at once of the difficult and the burdensome process that is slow but does get there in one trip. The depiction of a fellow who is carrying all the logs on his back in one trip says it well.
Six of Cups blesses us with its presence again. This is the sweet old-fashioned honest life, the sweet old-fashioned romance, the sweet old-fashioned person. It about a gift, receiving or giving same. It is about little boy gives little girl flowers.
Wheel of Fortune is the stroke of luck, the unexpected winning or boost. Destiny. ‘It’ happens (usually what you want and have hoped for). What reminds you of a roulette wheel is surrounded by all sorts of occult symbols that represent the idea that unseen influences affect our doings, both good ones and not-so-good ones. Personally I like that goose in the upper right with its foot on the book. Some of my best friends are geese.

A whole lot of lowlifes gives me the ability to have a good life despite anything to the contrary.

We have plenty of troubles to discourage us, I am making the best life for all of us.

Tarot Readings: House and Neighborhood (Ten of Pentacles + Six of Cups)
We have been in this deteriorating neighborhood so long we are doing something about it.
Mama gets everyone in the whole feuding family to make up.
Tarot Readings: Organizations and Politics (Ten of Pentacles)

I carve out my own little world to keep these people who will always be screwed up at arm’s length from me.
You can carve out a decent experience for yourself in the midst of the depressing organization you are part of.
Tarot Readings: Getting the Children to Behave (Six of Cups + Strength)
These kids are from really bad families, and she gets them to mind so well.
Bringing up good children around a lot of bad people is quite the skill.
She has the skill to make good children out of the baddest of all scenes.
He is a mother-lode of problems, and she makes him be good.
Children (Six of Cups) and family (Ten of Pentacles). Six of Cups is the loving (loved) children and Ten of Pentacles speaks of growing up among messed-up relatives. Six of Cups speaks of making the best life, and Ten of Pentacles adds ‘in an organization not conducive to that.’ Both of these cards are houses and neighborhoods. Both refer to backgrounds too: Six of Cups is sweet nostalgic memories of the past or of childhood, and Ten of Pentacles is the family or cultural background from hell.
So, what are we doing with these scenes? Well, Ten of Wands is putting up with it, is the long-term effects of it, and connotes a burden, things that are difficult. This card is being overloaded and overwhelmed but also means slow progress to your desired destination. (He’s gonna make it.)
Then there’s Strength, always saving the day when you have the heavier Tarot cards. Strength is skills and abilities to handle and overcome those difficulties, and also is about asserting yourself where there is trouble or potential trouble: taming the beast.
Our message is very clear: Make the very best use of your difficulties. Your screwed-up relatives are your springboard to a life of being with people you can trust. Being acclimated to a culture or family of misfits gives you the ability to overcome that and make your own life a civilized, even loving, one.
Ten of Wands Well, here’s you with your burdens. It speaks of a backbreaking burden, of putting up with difficulty, of slow and painful progress (progress nevertheless). It is sometimes ‘long term,’ as in the long term effects of something. Of course it also means ‘a long time’ in any context. It’s about: Being overloaded and overwhelmed is not the end of the world, just a big hump to get over. Ten of Wands is gonna make it to the desired destination, having ‘done it all in one load.’
Ten of Pentacles is the screwedupness of people in a group, any group – from a couple to a nation to a world. It’s your politicians and your relatives and coworkers, and it’s being a misfit yourself or putting up with defective-unit folks. A family quarrel scene illustrates this idea: Grandpa on his throne probably wants another grandkid. Most often, this is about a group you are part of in some way. It refers to a house, a neighborhood, your background or culture. Philosophically, it refers to the human condition.
Six of Cups Little Boy gives Little Girl flowers in front of an estate or apartment building. This warm fuzzy scene is about good children, good childhood, good memories of the past, having a good life, romance and trust … and children of course. This is your old flame, first love, the house you grew up in, friends you trust, the old neighborhood, or living in a safe neighborhood. It’s a mellow feeling that ‘All’s right with the world.’
Strength Then there’s Strength, always saving the day when you have the heavier Tarot cards. Strength is skills and abilities to handle and overcome those difficulties, and also is about asserting yourself where there is trouble or potential trouble: taming the beast within and taming the beast without. It’s about deftly and diplomatically finessing a potential major threat to your well-being, it’s about making that disturber of your peace purr.

MEANINGS AND ILLUSTRATIONS: OBSERVATION OF THE SPREAD
Today’s theme is caring for relatives, children and the home – and caring both financially and lovingly. Both Queen of Pentacles and Hermit are caretakers. She takes care of her man and her man’s financial affairs as the loyal worldly wife. He is the devoted loyal kind supportive man who is faithful.
Six of Cups is also taking care lovingly and taking care financially. It embraces romance and children. It is also the old home, the family home, the good old days, sweet memories.
Ten of Wands adds ‘a long time’ and ‘very much’ to all this loving care.
MEANINGS AND ILLUSTRATIONS: INDIVIDUAL RIDER WAITE TAROT CARDS
Queen of Pentacles takes loving care of her man and her man’s financial affairs as the loyal worldly wife. She takes care of his estate or home. Stereotypically the assertive Italian matriarch. There she is with her hands on the money in the fertile fields (See the bunny rabbit there?)
Ten of Wands is the extreme: it is longer, deeper … more. It goes on forever. It takes on the whole load in one exhausting operation. See him there with all the firewood on his back?
Six of Cups is romance and children, so the illustration is of the little boy giving the little girl flowers. It is about old neighborhood, old times, old house. Nostalgia galore.
Hermit is mature. He is devoted, supportive, loyal, monogamous, faithful, honest, helpful … sounding like a Boy Scout. He is the old man, the grandfather. That is the aspect of him we are using today. He is the counselor and way-shower too. Rider Waite even pictures him as the monk in search of strangers to help in the middle of the night.

Meanings and Illustrations: Observation of the Spread
Hermit and Chariot are both on the road, and both have an intention, a purpose. Hermit is looking, searching, seeking, and is volunteering to be of help. He is devoted and sincere, a caretaker. Chariot is ambitious, purposeful, masterful – a success for himself, the type that gets ahead.
Hermit and Six of Cups are sincere, trusting, old-fashioned, loving, devoted, kind, helpful, sweet …
Hermit is well-intentioned toward strangers, is traveling, and is honest, and Six of Cups is affectionate toward a specific other person and is home. Hermit is celibate (or monogamous, depending on the question) and Six of Cups is romantic, or focuses on a child or children.
Hermit and Ten of Wands are both moving forward patiently.
Six of Cups and Ten of Wands refer to longstanding issues or situations. Six of Cups is the past, the good old days, and pleasant nostalgia – once again, stationary at home; whereas Ten of Wands is difficult, depressing, and on its way to somewhere else.
Chariot and Ten of Wands both arrive, both accomplish their task. It’s just that Chariot sails through whatever the difficulty is, and Ten of Wands is bowed down by it.
Meanings and Illustrations: Individual Rider Waite Tarot Cards
Hermit’s story is that of a monk in the service of travelers. He is out at night seeking people to help. He is going to them. This is a friend, caretaker, honest man or person. He is devoted. Often he stands for an old man or older person.
Chariot is master of circumstances, ambitious and successful. This Rider Waite Tarot card is about ‘tacking against the wind,’ about using elements that are against you advantageously, and about being aware of the downside of the elements that are in your favor overall. He is on the road to get ahead. This card is about willpower, purpose, deliberate action. He is masterful. Note that he isn’t macho or pushy, he is self-confident and businesslike.
Six of Cups is so sweet, is as devoted as the Hermit. It calls forth romance, children, home (as in home-sweet-home), the good old days – the past we look back to fondly, the old neighborhood or childhood home.
Ten of Wands is overwhelmed, it’s too much, it’s taking on the whole task at one time and making very slow progress. It’s being depressed and slow-moving. BUT it gets there. This is a card of eventual success. It often refers to ‘eventual.’ The illustration in Rider Waite is very graphic: A man is loaded down with all those boards, carrying them all in one load to their destination.
