Six of Cups

The good old days are like the fresh beginning of a romance: So wonderful you remember in an idealized way long after the good taste wore off. Six of Cups means sweet tender loving romance, and means the good old days and the nostalgic memories we have of that time. Six of Cups is home sweet home in a neighborhood safe for children. Six of Cups is the past, usually the good old days. Naturally it’s childhood and children. Other applications for this picture of the little boy giving the little girl flowers are gifts, being in love, nostalgia, trust, and general warm-fuzzy anything. Put Ace of Pentacles next to Six of Cups, and he could be giving her a wedding ring.

 

 

 

Sun

Sun just wants to have fun, and that may be pure good feeling, may be busting loose from restrictions, may be a callous selfish attitude or person. Sun is juvenile, you know, and can be a brat. Can also be spontaneous, uninhibited, charming. Sun is also free and freedom itself – the relief of getting out from under, escaping. Sun is having a fling on vacation. Sun is the tyke who got free and ran or sneaked outdoors naked to sport hands free on a pony who is not amused – but boy-child is having the time of his life.

 

 

 

 

Seven of Pentacles

Seven of Pentacles is a question mark like Page of Cups. Seven of Pentacles leans upon that spade and speculates as to whether that vine will bear, after all his labor. The serious meaning of this Tarot card is that you have done all you can do … have done the work … and you don’t know whether it will pay off. But most of the time Seven of Pentacles is wondering, pondering, puzzling, asking, doubting, considering, supposing, figuring, thinking maybe and ‘what if.’

 

 

 

 

 

What do we see: We see the two children-cards and a question mark. Wondering whether to have children is an obvious interpretation. Each of these two mean childhood, being a kid; each means either one child or more than one, although Six of Cups is more the plural than Sun is, since Six of Cups shows two kids; each in its way is about happiness: Sun means ‘happy’ and Six of Cups is a happy childhood. Six of Cups is the good times, and Sun is having a good time. Six of Cups is romance; Sun is a fling. Each refers to home in very different ways: Six of Cups is home sweet home, the cozy or quaint house, while Sun is leaving the house or even escaping restrictions of home life. Sun is vacation; Six of Cups is cocooning.

Six of Cups is the good boy and girl (and being a ‘good little boy’ or ‘good little girl’). Sun is the brat: This kid got out of the house naked, mounted bareback an edgy pony, freehanded because he also swiped a big banner.

Note that (at least in Emily’s experience) the consequences of the recklessness are not part of Sun’s repertoire – although the recklessness is definitely among Sun’s words and phrases.

Sun’s meanings emphasize fun, freedom, getting out of the house, and joy. Sun is being on vacation, for instance (leaving home + fun).

Six of Cups other (other than children’s stuff) meanings are home, nostalgia, trust, childhood, the good past and the past, warm fuzzy feelings, gifting or giving.

Seven of Pentacles is wondering, musing, thinking, doubting, questioning, considering, supposing as he leans on his shovel there.
