Ace of Swords

It’s all one way, glorious victory or ignominious defeat, winner take all – no gray zone, no compromise, no choice, no excuses. It’s an order – you are impelled, you have to – or you make him, her, or them do or be whatever-it-is. It’s a total whatever-it-is; it’s totally, absolutely, unequivocally whatever-it-is. It is the most, too – the most whatever-it-is – often the most important, because Ace of Swords is first priority … is urgent. Do take note that – other than the win/lose achieve/fail distinction, Ace of Swords itself does not apply to the subject it affects. You look to another citizen in your spread for that. (Today it applies to ‘everything,’ Eight of Wands, and to getting your dream-come-true, Nine of Cups. That is rare.)

Ace of Swords is assertive. You are in control (or under its control), and things are under control.

Ace of Swords is a challenge, a dare, and an achievement or accomplishment.

(And Ace of Swords isn’t relaxed.)

Other meanings are not in use today, for example ‘weapon.’ If we used that, you would have all the weapons you ever wanted.

Eight of Wands

Eight of Wands

Whatever they are, there’s a lot of them, there’s more and more of them, and they’re moving fast – maybe one after the other.

They are also likely to be in spoken or written form. Eight of Wands is the main card for communications of ANY sort in Tarot Verbatim™. It very often translates speak/tell/say, of course. It’s a natural for texting, and it is the card for the word ‘document’ or ‘documents.’

Eight of Wands sometimes just adds a plural form (Today, twice, it’s an ‘s.’) Plural words and phrases are under Eight of Wands’ wings – words and phrases like: things, those, everything, several, all, so much, more, every time, everyone, all the things.

Nine of Cups

Here’s a famous anchor card: Nine of Cups has two basic categories to most of its meanings and applications: wanting, and getting what you want! “Your wish is granted” in almost any Tarot system – your dream comes true. Even when it just translates ‘want,’ there’s a whiff and a sizzle of satisfaction. Yes, Nine of Cups can often translate ‘satisfaction.’

Nine of Cups is the feeling you get when things go your way too: pleased (and wanting to please, or pleasing someone), happy, content, proud of oneself, feels so good, what I enjoy ….Whatever they are, there’s a lot of them, there’s more and more of them, and they’re moving fast – maybe one after the other.

The shadow side of Nine of Cups is ‘I got mine.’ Nine of Cups is having too much, being too much, excess and greed. Just not today.

Now Without The Pictures

For certain, everything you want is yours, we say here, and you get what you want in a hurry too; and that is the main message of these three Rider Waite Tarot cards. They also say everybody wants you to win, and everyone is pleased with you. And more and more of your cravings are under control. You overcome so much you are content – you are happy and proud of yourself because of one victory after another. The main card that makes your dream or dreams come true today is of course Nine of Cups: Your Wish Is Granted. But it’s Ace of Swords that issues the guarantee of it.

Ace of Swords is winning, certainty, being in control, achieving the challenge, overcoming. Ace of Swords is top priority, important and urgent. It is also what has to be done: It means ‘must.’

Ace of Swords is also force and a weapon or weapons (any kind, from a rock to a nuke). So these three cards say ‘all the weapons you want’ or ‘you want more weapons.’ Or ‘you want a showdown with them all.’ But not today. Today, everyone is happy that you won.

Eight of Wands is one of the cards that Tarot Verbatim differs from most other systems regarding. Here, it is a proud leading member of the speak/tell/say tribe, specializing in written communications, from a text to documents, from a data bank to a library. It means information. As the leading communication Tarot card in Tarot Verbatim, it often translates: say, said, tell, talk, and any such word or phrase.

Eight of Wands also means accumulating, increasing, more and more, much. It even indicates the plural of a nearby card – sometimes, as in twice today, just adding an ‘-s.’ Words that contain the idea of a lot of things belong to Eight of Wands: everything, everyone, every time, and so on. You see a number of things in its picture here.

The wands are flying through the air, so Eight of Wands can indicate rush, speed, fast, quickly, and – once in a while – airborne.

So today is the day the check in the mail does for sure land in your mailbox, and the pie in the sky nestles groundward on your front doorstep on a clear day while you are there.

Ace of Swords To win a fight or competition, to be the winner. Use of force, victory, ruling or being number one: These you see at a glance in this drawing of a double-edged sword held up and crowned, with laurel leaves on the crown.

.

The ‘being number one’ includes words and phrases like: most of all, the main thing, big, the most, total, being the one, the one thing.

.

Ace of Swords implies there’s only one way fairly often, with words and phrases like: must, got to, have to, no matter what, makes. It means ‘for sure,’ and it means ‘do it the hard way. It also means challenge, threat, adversity, and overcome.

Nine of Cups This illustration shows the kind of satisfaction you feel when you have had a good meal, and the chubby fellow also suggests prosperity and ‘having it all.’ Nine of Cups is called ‘your wish is granted.’ More than any other word or phrase, Nine of Cups translates ‘want.’

.

Your wish is granted brings us: your dream come true, things go your way, makes me feel so good, what makes him happiest, happy, glad, grateful, enjoy, to please and to be pleased. It can even translate ‘mine,’ as in ‘I’ve got mine.’

.

Nine of Cups means both greed (excess) and enough.

Chariot Think of Chariot as the field manager. This spread doesn’t feature Chariot’s using the adverse factors to further his aims, but you can find that by typing ‘Chariot Tarot Verbatim’ into your Google, which will bring you the archives regarding this Tarot card.

.

Today, Chariot makes these words and phrases predominantly: be a leader, master this, success, take command, the responsibility, my achievement, responsibility, accomplishment, overcome. He also means ambition and ‘aim to.’

.

Chariot also appears – as he always does – as deciding and handling a situation, and as that kind of skill. Chariot tends to be a veteran at his job.

Here’s ambition (Chariot), achieving the goal (Ace of Swords), and feeling so good about it (Nine of Cups). Here’s wanting to be (Nine of Cups) skilled, and/or a leader (Chariot), and actually ruling (Ace of Swords). Ambition (Chariot) absolutely (Ace of Swords) fulfilled (Nine of Cups). Here’s challenge in Ace of Swords and responsibility in Chariot.

.

Here also is the necessity (Ace of Swords) for self-control (Chariot) to have things go your way (Nine of Cups). Maybe what you are so glad about (Nine of Cups) is overcoming (Chariot) some threat or adversity (Ace of Swords).

.

Getting the main thing done (Ace of Swords as the main thing, and getting it done as Chariot) is enough, though (Nine of Cups).

.

Recipes for success, that’s what we’re on-about here. Ace of Swords and Chariot are winners and champions who get the job done. Note that Ace of Swords and Chariot have overlapping meanings: success, achieve and achievement, accomplishment, win, get it done the hard way, meeting the challenge or the threat. When you see both these cards in the same place, your story has a happy ending even without Nine of Cups.

AND NOW WITHOUT THE PICTURES:

.

When you see both these cards in the same place, your story has a happy ending even without Nine of Cups.

.

(Ace of Swords, as you know, can mean the extreme of anything, usually by saying ‘the most.’ When Ace of Swords appears with a card that already means ‘the most’ in some way, then Ace of Swords may or may not just disappear into the overall meaning soup of that sentence. For example, Nine of Cups can be ‘the happiest’ or ‘totally satisfied.’ Ace of Swords means ‘totally’ and means ‘the most,’ too. You won’t always find another meaning that Ace of Swords makes in that sentence – it may become invisible that way.)

. ….. …..

.

.

.

.Sometimes you want it so bad you do what you have to, to get it. Other times a driving ambition to be the best, or to be the most skilled, pays off handsomely incidentally as a lovely byproduct of your drive to excel. The focus today is on your satisfaction with your achievement, including your achievement of overcoming adversity, rather than on ‘being a success.’

You overcome and get away from the atmosphere that is against your dream coming true

Nine of Cups
Three of Swords, Eight of Cups, Ace of Swords

NOTE; Pronouns for this are wide open. There is only the slightest indication (in Eight of Cups) of MALE pronouns, so adjust accordingly!
The same is true for TENSE of verbs, so use your imagination, too!
(Pronouns are he, she, it, him, her, you, we, us, them, etc. Tense is past, present, future.)

Divorce Perspective:
He/She is forced to give up on being broken up, so you get what you want.
Has to drop the divorce if he/she is to possess the good things he/she wants.
Forced by divorce to abandon the dream.
No longer has to have the divorce.
Really wants that divorce; has to get out.
The divorce, having to leave, was the best thing for you.

Pain/Suffering Perspective:
You must abandon the path that pains you to have the good life.
It’s when you no longer have to have it so bad it hurts that you get it.
Surgery is the best; it ends the pain.
It doesn’t hurt any more; that’s the main thing you want.
The pain of having to have it is gone.
Suffering is the only way out of greed.
The one and only thing (you) want is to put and end to pain.
The suffering was the only way to get (your)self onto the path (you) desired and off of the other.

Heart Attack/Stroke Perspective:
To get on the path (you) really want to be on, the heart attack/stoke had to happen
The heart attack is/was the one and only way for him/her to drop off one path and get onto the one he/she really desired to be on.

Fight/Adversity/Hostile Atmosphere Perspective:
Have to quit being hostile for the dream to come true.
Being forced out and fired was the best thing that ever happened for you/him/her.
You overcome and get away from the atmosphere that is against your dream coming true.
For you to have what you want, you have to walk away from person(s) who is/are hostile.
Must abandon this battle to have the good life.
All you want is to drop out when everything goes against you.
Wants to win this battle and get out.
Will not be satisfied until (he) wins the battle.
He emphatically does not want to fight over it.

Victory Perspective:
You won’t want to fight any more after you win.
Having it all means you won it already, there’s no fight.
Quit fighting for the one thing you want when you get it.
Wins the victory he/she/you want(s) by not engaging in battle.
Avoiding the quarrel is the best way to have the victory.
In the end you win the conflict and all is well with you.
When the battle is over, you win and are satisfied.

Even more could be made of these four Rider Waite Tarot cards, but this is enough. Two of these cards are about conflict, the Three of Swords and the Ace of Swords, respectively meaning (1) hostility or separation and (2) winning the conflict. Eight of Cups echoes the ‘separation’ theme because it means ‘abandon’; and it also announces a severe and abrupt change of course. But here comes the Nine of Cups that in any given Tarot deck will mean ‘Your wish is granted, the dream comes true.’

So in the end you win a conflict and all is well with you. There is a deeper meaning, an underlying advice to question whether the reward is worth the battle. Sometimes not striving for the reward is the way for it to come to you. Sometimes, like Odin (Father God of the Norse Myth) you sacrifice an eye for wisdom … as in the heart attack theme. (Vikings are famous for not doing things the easy way.)

Meanings and Illustrations:

Three of Swords: Conflict, strife, battle/war, heartache and hurt, injury and heart attack or stroke, surgery, pain, hostility and divorce or separation … you got that early on, what with the Rider Waite Tarot illustration being a heart with three knives through it and storm clouds with driving rain surrounding it. Some illustrations are more graphic than others, methinks.

Eight of Cups: Abandon course in midstream and take off in another direction. Drop one for the other. Something is over with. Give up, get out, avoid … in the end, there was no beginning anyway. Illustration illustrates that: Pilgrim quits going in one direction because the land ends, and heads off 90 degrees later.

Ace of Swords: A sword festooned with laurel means victory and winning, ya think? It also echoes that ‘the one thing, the primary thing, the most important’ of the Ace of Wands’ meaning, as well as its ‘have to/must/gotta’ meaning. And that’s about it: another simple graphic illustration.

Nine of Cups: Speaking of simple graphic meanings, here’s another. The fat guy ate and drank and is totally satisfied … he’s got it all and is a consumer of it all. This is about satisfaction as well as surfeit and greed. Placed after the idea of winning in the Ace of Swords previous … well he won it all, didn’t he?

The sexy young bachelor is now an old married man

Page of Wands
Ten of Cups, Emperor, Ace of Wands

The old man of the family tells the cute young dandy what he has to do.
The patriarch of the family is forced to appear in a suit.
His greatest pride is to be an old man with his family around him who is happily married.
The old man and the young man are both members of the same prominent family.
The young man is a member of a prominent established family.

The sexy young bachelor is now an old married man.
Father tells son ‘You have to get married.’
Grandpa was a sexy young bachelor when he married.
The elder tells everyone what they have to do.
Everyone says he is a sexy old man.

God says you have to love one another.
God’s word is the authority for these people.
Federal ruling about the word ‘marriage.’

Not much variety here. We have the Emperor old man (or patriarch, or God, or federal government), and the Page of Wands young man (a well-dressed good-looking bachelor), the Ten of Cups happy family or happy marriage, and the Ace of Wands mandate or order, which also means sexy when it stands next to the well-dressed good-looking young fella there. So the old man of the family dictates to the bachelor son. Or the federal government dictates to everybody (or dictates about the word ‘marriage.’)

The nearest thing to advice we have is to marry a young man who will still be family when he is of patriarchal age.

Meanings and Illustrations:

Ten of Cups: Such a happy well-adjusted well-off family. They even had to put a rainbow over the family estate.

Emperor: He be da Boss, the supreme commander. Often a rigid dictatorial type; and it can be a woman in that role or position, too. There he sits looking august in his metal legwear, symbols of power in his hands, crown upon his head over his rosy cheeks.

Ace of Wands: Again, the authority, the boss, the order or mandate. Sexy, too: The hand with the board in it that is shaped like a penis and is abloom with sprouts as a fertility icon.

Page of Wands: He is the handsome well-dressed young man who is proud of himself and well-spoken. The illustration shows this cute guy so full of himself, very green-behind-the-ears. The card refers to speaking, language, delivering a message, being the spokesperson as well.

Rider Waite Tarot-2-15-11

To get what you wish for and are entitled to, you have to pursue it

Justice
Ace of Swords, Knight of Wands, Nine of Cups

Romance Perspective:
Make him chase you to get the marriage you want.
He has to do what he should in a hurry to get his satisfaction.
He is motivated by desire to pursue the lady in the right ways, and win.
You gotta chase to get what you want and should have.
His first priority is chasing after her: He is entitled to the one he wants.
Pursues making it legal in order to have the good life.
Got to have what you want and are entitled to?: Go after it, chase.
Pursues with great energy the one he really wants, who is right for him.
Wants only what is right, is in hot pursuit of it.

Business/Other Perspectives:

To get what you wish for and are entitled to, you have to pursue it.
You have to do what you should and get moving, to be well off.
You have to get moving to get all you want – as it should be.
You will have to transfer to have the good life you are entitled to.
You will have to transfer to entitle yourself to the good life.
You will have to ‘go on the road’ to be entitled to a lot of money.
You should put all your energy into whatever you’ve got to have.
To get the law enforced the way you want, hurry, go to them.
He got all that money but is running from the police (from law enforcement).
Law enforcement wants to pursue this in a hurry.
You have to do it right to get what you want that fast.
The legal victory you want comes quickly.
He did what he had to to get rich quick legally.
Somebody who wants justice forces him to leave town in a hurry.
To make it right, you will want to move out of town.
You have to sue to get what you want: hurry up!
Hot pursuit by the police, they want to use force/weapons.
He loves to speed and defy the police.
Guaranteed to get what you want when you go after it the right way.

Here is advice to strike while the iron is hot, advice to take advantage of opportunity, to seize the day.
What you really, really want is at hand, under your nose, so reach out and grab onto it. ‘Justice’ says you should and you gotta do this. So, keep your eye peeled for that happy circumstance. From my typing fingers to the ear of God’s executive secretary, the one who keeps his appointment book.

These four Tarot cards have disparate (different from one another) meanings, so the stories they can make are many, and the phrases that arise from pairs of them are diverse and many as well. I guarantee you you can find some I didn’t by taking the phrases arising from single cards and recombining them … which is what Tarot Verbatim is all about.
The four concepts which/who appear here are, in order of appearance: You have to/force or enforce (Ace of Swords), pursue/chase (Knight of Wands), get what you want/to desire (Nine of Cups) and Justice/should/entitlement (Justice). Phrases such as ‘you have to pursue,’ (Ace of Swords with Knight of Wands), ‘law enforcement,’ (Ace of Swords with Justice), ‘pursue what you want’ (Knight of Wands with Nine of Cups), ‘the good life you deserve,’ (Nine of Cups with Justice) arise from these combinations.

Meanings and Illustrations:

Ace of Swords: This Rider Waite Tarot card shows a hand with a weapon in it, a crown of victory over the sword tip. It means phrases like: make him/it/etc., have/has to, got to, win, victory, the one, only, force/weapons, enforced, enforcement, forces him, guaranteed, even ‘certain’ or sure thing.

Knight of Wands: The picture shows a partially-armored fellow brandishing his weapon (a club) as he rides fast through desolate terrain, suggesting going from one town to another. It calls for words such as chase, hurry, pursue/pursue/with great energy/hot pursuit, get moving, move or transfer to another town, running from, fast, comes quickly/quick, leave town in a hurry, hurry up, speed, and go after it.

Nine of Cups: He done et tha’ whole thang. The picture shows a fat rich man who ate and drank to excess and is glad to have done so. It is one of the simple cards with few and reliable meanings that you can use as an anchor card when you put down your spread and are initially figuring out what it is talking about. Phrases it raises are get the __ you want/get what you want, satisfaction, what you desire, the good life, what you wish for, to be well off, a lot of money, you’ve got to have, got all that money, get rich and loves to. Pretty simple, huh?

Justice: I want this card in a stained glass window! Anyone? A sword in one hand and the scales of justice in the other? – I can relate to that. You? Another simple card with few phrases, mainly: should, in the right way, entitled, right, legally, as it should be, law legal, justice, sue and police. It is a weak marriage card.

Rider Waite Tarot-2-15-11

Don’t let anything rock your world!

World
Queen of Swords, Eight of Pentacles, Seven of Wands

Business Perspective:
No harm comes of you being confronted at work with something you are not comfortable with.
You push yourself to do this work, feeling like complaining … but you act like it doesn’t get to you.
Just put a bubble around yourself and do your routine: Some mouthy dude is going to annoy you.
You ignore a bitch at work who is sooo pushy.
He keeps trying to ‘get to you,’ to make you mad, but ‘you don’t know him.’

Well, there is no romance here! None, nada. That is because the first spread tells you about luv, up there. This one is pretty straightforward. It tells you to keep your cool under pressure, mostly at work, of someone who is very annoying and trying to get a rise out of you. Advice is to act like he isn’t doing that and he isn’t even there.

Meanings and Illustrations:

Queen of Swords: It isn’t fair. She isn’t getting what she deserves, what is fair. As a matter of fact, she is a bitch perhaps, and/or she is pissed perhaps. I like to put “Now would be good” regarding her outstretched hand, the other hand having the weapon at the ready. Today, she is being purposefully annoyed by some fellow who wants to rattle her cage.

Eight of Pentacles: Well, he is working, he is making one of those carvings after another with his hammer and chisel. He is into the groove of his routine, right there in between two Rider Waite Tarot cards that say ‘aggravation and pressure.’

Seven of Wands:
Oh, God, spare me! Here come the hypermouth, the pushy s.o.b., the mouthy adolescent, the dude on his soapbox, the disruptor of the peace. He accuses. He wants the keys to the car and he isn’t about to buy the gas. He intends to annoy and anger you or he is not a happy camper.

World: This is advice to put your defenses up and to blithely ignore whatever bad juju the environment offers today. You are the superior person, you do not lower yourself to interact with the ruffian who aims to rock the boat this morning. The World card screams “Don’t let it get to you!” It shows a figure with two wands (“Master of Both Worlds” in occult circles.) who is dancing to her own drummer as a bunch of jokers want to intrude … but she has shut them out, she doesn’t know them.

error:
