Ten of Cups

Ten of Cups

Today Ten of Cups is everybody, is family, is people, is happy, and is a house or neighborhood. These are its mainstream common mundane and ordinary meanings. Ten of Cups begins with its ‘marriage’ meaning and is about any okay group of people of any size at all who have any old thing in common at all. A couple leads to a family leads to a neighborhood leads to a city, county, state, nation, and world. So Ten of Cups is that belonging, that unity for mutual benefit.

Ten of Cups is also happy and prosperous. The picture shows what used to be called the American dream

Chariot

Chariot

We use the most ordinary and frequent meanings of Chariot today, nothing philosophical. Chariot is the responsible man, the leader of the team, the decision maker who handles situations in such a way as to achieve a purpose. Chariot chooses. Chariot runs the show. In the picture, he handles a team of sphinxes, difficult uncooperative critters, as if they were horses, and he does so with his willpower (evidenced by the magic wands in his hands).

So Chariot gets something done by dealing with people, by having a strategy, by having leadership skills.

Chariot is a winner, is the champion, the success. He is ambitious; he aims to; he is determined. He can be ruthless to get something done by fair means or foul.

Because the chariot is a vehicle, Chariot is the card not only for cars and trucks but for any conceivable vehicle, and it also means to steer or pilot.

Six of Pentacles

Six of Pentacles

You see a commercial exchange in the picture, an employer carefully paying the workers just the right amount, the fair amount, using scales to weigh gold coins. Paying and receiving, or any kind of exchange, are Six of Pentacles. So it covers transmitting germs, giving or getting respect or attention, giving and getting what is deserved. It’s the paycheck and it’s paying the bills, for example. It can say things like ‘affordable’ and ‘a fair deal’ and ‘get the business of.’

Six of Pentacles joins Three of Pentacles in a concept of each party to a transaction or interchange doing his part ‘fair and square.’

Now Without The Pictures

Our story here today is about being Somebody to everyone by not only treating them as they deserve but getting them to do the same to one another in mutually profitable exchanges and relationships. (Talking about emotional IQ here!)

Chariot is the skill to get a project done as the hands-on manager, field manager, project manager – the go-to man. I say ‘man’ because Chariot is definitely a man-card as the war hero that charioteers of yore were. Google ‘Tarot Verbatim Chariot’ to get the full scoop there.

Today Chariot is all business, is very much real-world, in the company of ‘all the people,’ in Ten of Cups and ‘business exchanges’ in Six of Pentacles.

Guidance

Getting ahead by fair means, foul means, or either way we can; and getting the job done the ordinary way, the creative way, or even the daring way: This is what we are about today. Some jobs require strategy, craftiness or even cunning. It’s one thing to be the manager who can pull the project off within the budget, and quite another to steal credit for another’s idea or effort on that job. So, if you cheat, cheat for the brand, not against it.

Synopsis

How much of a chance to take? – what is the risk to benefit ratio of, say, sticking my neck out or giving them what they deserve? Sometimes we are in an adventuresome mood, and we take a dare – maybe for no good reason. Sometimes we are doing something illegal, risque or risky, just to get the rent and bills paid; sometimes we gamble with the rent money. Ambition can lead to some slippery slopes, and some slippery slopes pay off handsomely. We ponder what our payoff is today.

Chariot

Chariot

Chariot is the man with the plan, the decision maker, the go-to person, the field marshal, the chief. But don’t color him a desk job; he is where the action is. This is the commander of the battalion. This is the project manager who will be blamed or praised at the outcome.

Charioteers were all of that in their day. Special ops, war heroes. This chariot was the ultimate weapon, the tank of its day. The formations charioteers made, the strategies they used, determined win or loss of the conflict most of the time.

His steeds are magic creatures, sphinxes. He has them hitched in such a way the willful creatures must do his bidding, and he controls them with magic wands.

Seven of Swords

Seven of Swords

Seven of Swords This is one card you hate to see coming. Its good-news meanings are few (and not that good). The best things it has to say are: adventure, daring, guts, outfox or outsmart, pull it off, get away with it, special ops. It often means danger, hazard, reckless, self-destructive, thief, criminal, stolen property, and crime. Seven of Swords and Six of Swords, for example, say ‘Crime pays.’

Remember this is a ‘yes, he or she is fooling around’ in romantic questions.

Six of Pentacles

Six of Pentacles

Six of Pentacles is getting what you deserve (in either sense – and we use them both and use the distinction today). It is ‘fair and square’ treatment, a fair exchange, a fair price, and such things as that. It is treating someone fairly, or being treated fairly, and giving or getting attention – paying attention. It is getting credit for what you have done. It’s the payoff, the paycheck, and, with Seven of Swords, payback.

Learn Tarot

Now Without The Pictures

Chariot gets ahead and is a successful man (or person). Chariot is the project manager who delivers the project on time and within budget by using even the hazards in the project to best advantage. Chariot is a strategist and a ‘no excuses’ leader.

Seven of Swords is the ‘by any means possible’ approach. Seven of Swords is both the postman who delivers regardless of hazards, and the laborer who makes off with the equipment and supplies. Although Seven of Swords can be any daring and risky activity, the illustration shows sneaking into enemy camp and stealing its weapons, so it is especially appropriate for stealing. He is sneaking away, so ‘sneaky’ is a major term for Seven of Swords.

Chariot and Seven of Swords are both daring strategists who risk much to get the job done. That gives them much in common. When these two Rider Waite Tarot cards appear in separate sentences in your Celtic Cross spread, they can easily refer to the same person.

So it makes sense that Six of Swords, which means both ‘payoff’ and ‘payback’ completes our layout.

Here’s the difference – some of them anyway. Chariot is a leader, is respectable, and is in charge of an endeavor or project. You say ‘sir’ to Chariot. Chariot is famous for willpower, for decision, and for planning. Seven of Swords is an individual, probably a spur-of-the-moment maverick, and has no plan but is reckless. Note that he is doing the weapons heist in daylight, and is carrying the heavy sharp swords by their blades. Seven of Swords in Rider Waite owns the words reckless, dare, adventure, dangerous, hazardous, hotfoot. He is the main card for crime and criminal. He also is sneaking around, in your romantic inquiries!

Watch for Seven of Swords to appear where trust is violated, where there’s betrayal and double-cross … even though stealing the enemy’s weapons isn’t either of those things. Especially watch for Seven of Swords to apply to violating one’s defenses, since that is what he is doing in the illustration.

So how appropriate that Six of Swords is getting what you deserve, whether that’s payoff or payback.

.

Chariot – Chariot is modeled mainly after two things. One is the charioteers in ancient warfare, who were the strategists of battles, often deciding which side won. Lots of good stories to be found in those sagas. The other is master magicians who control bad spirits successfully. So Chariot tends to kick butt, to be the one who decides and directs activity (‘field manager,’ I call it, but ‘supervisor’ often appears). An outgrowth of the charioteer meaning is that Chariot is a vehicle and can appear as any sort of craft, including boats, airplanes, and an occasional bicycle or whatever.

.

As I said, the other is the master magician. You see this in the illustration too, but you have to look a little. First, his vehicle isn’t pulled by horses but by a pair of sphinxes. Now, sphinxes are evil malicious creatures, each of which will move only in one direction, a turn, so Mr. Chariot hitches them so that their chosen direction opposes the other’s so they end up moving the vehicle forward by bumping into one another. Mr. Chariot is a master strategist. This card especially represents using factors that are against success for success (like those sphinxes). Chariot is using his wand instead of reins to control the steeds. The symbols on this card are esoteric in nature.

.

Chariot is the strong leader of course, the successful man. You find these words for this Tarot card: ambition, aim, success, achievement, get ahead, leader, challenge, driven, master, overcome, Type A man. Another Chariot word we tend to overlook is ‘discipline.’

.

The word ‘responsible’ in all its forms, especially ‘responsibility’ meaning duty, belongs to Mr. Chariot.Take charge’ is another phrase for that.

.

Then, Chariot is about skill level. He is often a veteran of his job, whatever it is. Getting the job done … under budget and in less time … no matter what the obstacle. Mr. Chariot eats consequences for breakfast. Here are some of his can-do words from today’s post: He did it; I am capable of; I do something I am good at; having the skill; you do something; you deliver; your skill level.

Nine of Cups – You remember him. He wants. He gets. He has enough. He has too much. He is greedy. The whole spectrum of getting what you want. So – shorthand – everyone calls him Your Wish is Granted.

.

Here are some of his habitual words about all that. Most of the time, he says words and phrases about ‘want.’ Second-most, he brings forms of ‘get’ and words that mean the same thing – famously, ‘I got mine.’

.

He means satisfaction and satisfy and safunsified. He means enough – and you kinda have to remember that one. He means odd phrases like ‘a lot more’ and ‘pays off big’ and ‘your dream’ as in your dream car, dream house, dream job – with the appropriate other card.

.

Some odd words will pop up for him. Today it’s ‘fulfills’ and ‘affording.’

.

And lastly, Nine of Cups is being glad, being happy, and is what you (or whoever) enjoys. Sometimes in legal inquiries, he even appears for the famous civil law phrase ‘enjoyment of life.’

Six of Pentacles – Several Tarot cards that show an exchange mean both to give and to receive. This is one of them. You are used to the exchange being a fair one, as in Three of Pentacles, and yes, Six of Pentacles also partakes of that – influenced by the scales of justice there. Six of Pentacles frequently appears for paying or getting paid, for the paycheck and the price, for making payments, as well as for paying attention. It can say ‘making money’ and ‘salary’ too of course.

.

Nine of Cups today pulls Six of Pentacles meanings toward the ‘getting’ aspect, as in getting paid, getting attention, reward, and even getting your price.

.

Six of Pentacles is also dispensing medicines (the coins resemble pills, so handing out pills – that’s where that comes from). Six of Pentacles means to receive or give attention, which blends in with the dispensing those pills to further mean medical treatment. (Yes, sometimes the meanings morph into something not-very-similar this way in Tarot. You will catch it in action in your Tarot work if you do enough Tarot.)

.

Six of Pentacles also may translate ‘deserve.’ That’s where fairness and receiving benefit meet, of course. ‘Deserve’ is all about fairness.

Rider-Waite Tarot reading

She aims to make the most money and be the top person

Six of Pentacles

Ace of Wands, Chariot, World

Making money, being successful, is the main reason to be a superior person.

Do what you get paid for and the heck with the rest:  Aim for that.

*A fellow must treat her right or she has nothing to do with him.

Have to make car payments to have superior standing.

She aims to make the most money and be the top person.

*People are responsible to respect her:  They must, because she won’t put up with anything less.

*He is the top earner, his woman is the top woman.

He keeps the knowledge from her of what he will do to be paid top dollar.

She is not privy to the price he has to pay for his success.

He makes them put money into what gets him ahead

*He has to be successful to pay for the dame with the Body.

*He has to be attentive to the woman with the gorgeous body if he is to succeed.

He is immune from prosecution for how he made the program’s success.

Have to give immunity to accomplish justice.

She has no connections, she has to be the most highly paid to be successful.

Here our four cards’ main meanings are (1) to have to or be/do the most (Ace of Wands) – (2) success  (Chariot) –  (3) to be superior and/or above reproach (World) – (4) to be paid or to pay, or justice (Six of Pentacles). Today we are about the drive to succeed and keep the ‘nose clean,’ keep out of trouble..  Since our question does not identify parties, action or time – just a faceless ‘Tell the day’s visitors about their day, their life today’ – we have a few scenarios these ideas cover.  Making money and being successful (Six of Pentacles and Chariot) are featured.  The Ace expresses the drive and the World card expresses the various forms of denial that occur when one is driven to succeed and make money.

The meanings that are about romance, which are marked with an asterisk, are about a woman who feels only the best and most successful man is worthy of her.
