Nine of Cups – Nine of Cups everybody calls ‘Your wish is granted.’ This basic meaning expands to being satisfied, having what you really want, being content, being grateful and thankful, having enough, pleasing another and being pleased yourself, feeling good, and pleasure. We all relate to the picture: The big ol’ grin on the fellow who ate and drank to satiety and is safunsified. It’s all good! You have all of everything you want at the moment. You’re a kid who ‘got everything you wanted’ for Christmas. Empress – Yes, this is one of the simplest cards. Think of Empress as a composite of all the fertility goddesses of yore. You have to be aware that back then morality (as we define it) did not exist. So the fertility goddesses (from our perspective) were both whore and ideal woman. (Men have less problem with this concept.) Empress is both ideal woman and slut. She is also pregnant, as all the fertility goddesses are and were. The ancients recognized the connection between sex and procreation, as current civilizations do not.

First, Empress translates simply ‘girl’ or ‘woman’ or ‘she.’ Next, she is ‘best girl,’ beloved, goddess, sexy woman. Or ‘beautiful woman,’ ‘glamorous or good-looking woman or lovely lady.’ The beautiful dame, you know. Yeah: her.

They say ‘You get everything you want’ and ‘You are satisfied or content with everything.’ Nine of Cups is ‘your wish comes true’ and Eight of Wands makes that plural for you. One could, literally, not ask for anything more.
King of Pentacles is a man who has it all: money, influence, charisma, sex appeal, power. He is the man everyone (Eight of Wands means ‘everyone.’) wants to talk to. Having it all: He and Nine of Cups both refer to that – and he is feeling as good as Nine of Cups depicts there.

King of Pentacles……. King of Pentacles can be the evil powerful man – politician or mobster or just the snarky landlord. He can be the flamboyant or flashy fellow too (Liberace stuff). Occasionally, he can translate ‘that bastard,’ even. He is in such good company today, though, with Eight of Wands and Nine of Cups, that he is on his very best behavior. Today, with Nine of Cups, he is the powerful fellow who does people favors (gives them what they want) – or he is the fellow who is powerful precisely because he does that. King of Pentacles is the charismatic man. Independently of that charisma, he is the sexy man, the man whose sex appeal is over the top. That is why he is the Prince, the Italian Stallion, and Studmuffin. Note that all these traits are personality traits, and factual things (like he has money); they are not about his good looks. A man can be very sexy and not be handsome – like, say Danny deVito.
Eight of Wands…….. Eight of Wands affects its neighbors more than other Tarot citizens do. It is a pluralizer (makes plurals) and it also adds suffixes that mean ‘more,’ ‘increasing’ or ‘increasingly’ – suffixes like: er, ier, est, iest. It also drops words into the sentences that do that – lots of different ones – like more, most, every, all, many, etc. That is its job.
Eight of Wands is communication of any kind at all. It is the card that shows up for texting (lines). It is the card that shows up for a list of any kind. It will say talk, speak, speech, tell – and don’t forget ‘hear’ once in a while too.

Nine of Cups……“It’s all good,” Nine of Cups is saying. A chubby fellow has eaten and drunk enough (or more than enough), has had all he wants of everything. That feeling is what its meanings have in common. ‘Mighty fine.’ The nearest Nine of Cups comes to negative meaning is greed, ‘too much’ or excess – and it takes some encouragement from neighbor cards to say that.

……………………… Consider this a symphony of Seven of Swords. Seven of Swords is an ominous card usually. It has a few good meanings, though, and Nine of Cups’ meaning getting exactly what you want, along with Eight of Wands amplifying that as ‘every time’ or ‘more and more’ convert Seven of Swords into satisfying and profitable adventure. This is a special – today only!
………………………….. Seven of Swords illustrates the unlikely caper of a fellow hotfooting it out of enemy camp with as many of their weapons as he can carry in his bare hands … blade down. We scatter some meanings around here, but they are all about a caper of one sort or another. Seven of Swords is usually betrayal, backstabbing, cheating as a violation of trust, self-destruction, thievery, crime, theft, revenge, black operations, criminals, mugging, assassination, and getting away with murder – figuratively or for real.
However, Seven of Swords lite is having the nerve, having the guts, pulling it off, sneaking away, adventure, daring, going out on a limb, being ‘on thin ice,’ living dangerously, taking a chance, escapades, shenanigans, guts, the smooth operator, reckless, wild side or walk on the wild side, risks, long shots, guts, bad boys, tricks, rackets, cutting corners.
Note all of these are exciting. Seven of Swords is an adrenalin card – like Page of Swords, who is pure adrenalin, idiopathic adrenalin (no known cause).
………………………….. Eight of Wands – as is often the case – is an innocent bystander. It makes plurals of nearby cards, it means plural things like: tell everyone, all, all the others, one at a time, many, all, they, repeated, more and more, increasing, things and those thing, etc. Think of it as adding. Because it can also ad ‘er and ‘est and ‘ier, all of which indicate an increase to their root words.
Eight of Wands is also any kind of communication. It is one of those card that can mean say, tell, speak, news … and Eight of Wands specifically is written communication, so check it out for texting and emails, even. Don’t forget, it can refer to what you read or hear as well.
Eight of Wands also means quickly, fast, and any similar word.
Eight of Wands means repetitive, means one after the other, the next one, each time. It also means a list of things. The illustration suggests that.
Eight of Wands can combine the ‘say’ category with the ‘over and over’ category to refer to repeating something over and over, including chanting, affirmations, and someone who will not shut up.
………………………….. Nine of Cups – we all like you. Every deck says ‘Your wish is granted’ for Nine of Cups. If Seven of Swords is the party pooper, Nine of Cups is the consummate party, the invincible party. Seldom is Nine of Cups negated. Seven of Swords ……….. You got Seven of Swords, you got drama – some kind of excitement. ‘Most all its meanings have an adrenalin rush on the side. Since Learn Tarot by Observing’s description of his meanings are not just for this spread, but are general, I will quote it in full here: “Seven of Swords illustrates the unlikely caper of a fellow hotfooting it out of enemy camp with as many of their weapons as he can carry in his bare hands … blade down. We scatter some meanings around here, but they are all about a caper of one sort or another. Seven of Swords is usually betrayal, backstabbing, cheating as a violation of trust, self-destruction, thievery, crime, theft, revenge, black operations, criminals, mugging, assassination, and getting away with murder – figuratively or for real.

Eight of Wands …………. Eight of Wands is sort of a tool of the Tarot deck. Its very own meanings are: communication, quickly, repetitive, increasingly, and a list of things. It often means ‘things’ because it goes around making other cards plural. Per its ‘increasing’ trunk of meanings, it also goes around making other cards say ‘more’ by adding: ‘er; ‘ier’; ‘-est’; and ‘-iest. Sometimes that’s all it does. That’s what makes it a tool of the Tarot deck – my private title for it.
When it combines its ‘talk/say/speak/’ category of meanings with its ‘more’ or ‘increasing’ category of meanings, you get ‘talk too much,’ said too much,’ and other such phrases.

Nine of Cups …………. It’s a relief to see Nine of Cups in your spread for two reasons: Its meaning is clear and simple – and dominant; and it’s about getting what you want. Nine of Cups sometimes translates only the ‘want’ part, but even then there’s an implication that all will be (or is) well. You are content when you are in Nine of Cups territory: You have enough, you have plenty – and you might even have too much, because Nine of Cups can cross over to being excess, greed, and having eaten or drunk or consumed too much. It means ‘glad’ and ‘enjoying’ and ‘feeling mighty good,’ safunsified.

………………….…………………… In a spread of only three cards, we have one that means plenty for now, Nine of Cups, and one that means plenty for later (financial security), Two of Wands. Now we look to the other card for ‘Is it modifying that downward?’ Nope. As a matter of fact it, Eight of Wands, means ‘increasingly’ and ‘more and more’ as well as ‘quickly.’ Are you a gambler?
………………………….. Eight of Wands shows limbs flying one above the other, arcing downward. This illustration does not fit well with most of its field meanings, which is what Tarot Verbatim uses: ‘just the facts, ma’am.’ Eight of Wands is about communication (verbal, written, electronic, telepathic, smoke signals – any kind), and it means both ‘quickly’ and ‘increasingly’ or ‘more and more.’ It translates things like: any number of things, one after another, the news, said, talk, a lot of, one thing at a time, things, I keep (doing/saying, whatever), so many, express in words, repeat it over and over. You get the idea.
………………………….. Two of Wands sure is about good money and a good future. Couldn’t put a more emphatic graphic up there than that! First of all, he is surveying his real estate below, and he owns it (Yeah, you should know that’s the story.) and he’s got the globe in his hand. He stands upon the ramparts of his estate, which looks like a castle. This dude is in control, and he’s got things under control. He is the mortgage broker, the banker or bankster, the puller of the global strings. He’s The Man with the Plan. In Tarot Verbatim™ this card means a good future, the future tense to surrounding cards, future words like ‘will’ or ‘will be,’ security, pensions and bank accounts, real estate transaction, foresight and a good outlook.
………………………….. Nine of Cups shows the chubby fella with the nine empties on the mantle behind him and a big ole grin on his face – and he is dressed rather ostentatiously (flashy). He has it all, has et it all, and is feelin’ no pain. Nine of Cups says ‘Your wish is granted,’ as well as you are pleased, you please others, you get what you want, you are satisfied and content, you benefit … you got it all.
.………………….. Eight of Wands and Two of Wands Eight of Wands and Two of Wands say ‘many things (Eight of Wands) are going to happen (Two of Wands).’ The ‘happen’ is inferred. They say ‘Got things under control’ because Two of Wands is about control, and Eight of Wands is plural. Two of Wands is a sure thing and Eight of Wands is ‘more and more’ so ‘More and more of a sure thing.’ An odd translate for these two are ‘all the security,’ with Two of Wands as security and Eight of Wands as the plural. Two of Wands is business, and Eight of Wands is increase, so ‘an increase in business.’ It’s also ‘they tell you,’ Eight of Wands ‘about an investment,’ Two of Wands. I like ‘Everything (Eight of Wands) is a sure thing (Two of Wands).’ Then we have Eight of Wands as ‘now is the time,’ a variant of ‘quickly,’ ‘to make plans,’ since Two of Wands is a plan. Actually Two of Wands is a plan, and Eight of Wands pluralizes it, so they also just say ‘plans.’ Two of Wands as the future means to foresee, so it means ‘prognosis.’ They tell you the prognosis, when you add the ‘communication’ of Eight of Wands.

First off, they say you get everything (Eight of Wands), that good (Nine of Cups) things (Eight of Wands) are happening – even too much of a good thing, because Nine of Cups is excess as well as being enough and plenty. The closest we come to action for a story here is ‘talk.’ Both Eight of Wands and Page of Wands’ primary meanings are ‘talk.’ Eight of Wands is communication, written or oral or smoke signals. Page of Wands is in-person discussion, face to face – but it can be telephone talk too. Not written.
Eight of Wands also means many, more and more, increasing – and it makes plurals of other words in the Tarot Verbatim™ sentence. Page of Wands also means a good-looking well-dressed person, particularly a young man. It is about being as attractive a person as you can, putting your best foot forward, and/or about being a good person.
Eight of Wands and Two of Pentacles are movement, repetition, and quick movement. Eight of Wands emphasizes one after another in succession, and quickly. Two of Pentacles emphasizes continuing on and on, and also can be any kind of repeated movement, even refer to repetitive movement injury when aspected that way.
Eight of Wands and Nine of Cups both can refer to ‘a lot of things.’ Eight of Wands means that literally, and Nine of Cups simply has everything.
The other cards leave us talking and not doing. Nine of Cups is getting what you want, wanting, your dream coming true, satisfaction, and things going your way. Two of Pentacles goes on and on, is silly, is unstable or indecisive, and is about motion or movement.

Eight of Wands Any kind of communication at all, even documents and mail, is Eight of Wands’ province. Limbs fly one above another looking like lines on paper, and representing: many, more and more, increasingly, and a sequence of one after another in succession, usually quickly. It is sometimes a list.
Two of Pentacles Continuing on and on in a loop like the juggling pictured. A cycle, rising and falling. Rhythmic movement like dancing or repeated motion. Repetition. Silliness. Unstable or indecisive. A routine (or rigamarole).
Nine of Cups simply has everything. It’s getting what you want, your dream coming true, satisfaction, things going your way, and, yes, wanting. The chubby fellow with the goofy grin and nine empties behind him says it all. It seems this card is most likely to keep its traditional meaning even in the quirkiest of newly minted Tarot decks.
Page of Wands stands for something and has something to say, face to face. This is being the best person you can, and represents a person people find credible and attractive – often a well-dressed well-spoken young man earnestly starting out in life. It is also in-person discussion, oral communication, a talk or discussion.

Did you come here just for your predictions? – If so, you are done when you finish reading the sentences of Group Analytical Tarot Cards Reading.
Each Tarot sentence is a literal-interpretation reading of the scenes pictured on the four cards you see. Only what each of the cards says – phrase by phrase – no fillers – no psychic ability used. The readings are about you and the people around you. They are about today and the days around it. Tarot, all by itself, talks to you. This is a demonstration of that .
Tarot will address any group flexibly, as it does here of ‘all the visitors.’ (It can address ‘all the people at work who have a say in my raise,’ for instance, without you knowing who or where those people are.)
Horoscopes are group readings too.
Astrology has to be based on someone else’s birth data, though, so it does not solidly apply to you just because of where the sun was when you were born. (Astrologers know this.)
Emily wants to know whether these sentences are more accurate for regular visitors than for people who have come only a few times. Would you help with a comment, if that is who you are? Please?
Without a question to focus the answer, four cards can mean contradictory things, especially when the Spread has a card that means ‘no, never or not.’ That negative modifier can apply to any one of the cards.
Without a question also the pronouns (you, him, her, me, us, them, they, etc.) in a group reading are more flexible, especially in some of these Rider Waite Tarot spreads. When a pronoun is in parentheses, feel very free to substitute. Notice how, as much as possible, we drop pronouns, which makes for some awkward phrasing.
The question in a ‘real’ individual reading supplies at least half the information! In a ‘real’ reading, the parties are identified (including the gender of the questioner!), and so is the time frame if there is one. In this group reading, we cannot do that, so we have variety.
