Guidance

It’s one thing to solve their problems for them, and quite another to let them be your problem. Don’t fight other people’s battles, we remind ourselves: Keep them out of your hair. Influence your people to reject the influence of those people, too. The pesky relatives will not want to deal with you if you know how to handle the Games They Play. A woman can say ‘no’ to issues of others … yes, she can!

Synopsis
|
I see little weeds and remind myself to get them before they take over. And I don’t do it. So then I have big weeds that are more trouble to get rid of. We liken life’s aggravations to those sprouts that grow into ragweed and sand-spurs before you know it.

Four of Cups
Four of Cups most frequently is a negative contraction or any ‘no’ word or phrase. It’s the fourth time our Four of Cups boy is refusing delivery. “Which part of ‘no’ do you not understand; the ‘N’ or the ‘O’?” He crosses his arms; he crosses his legs, he is looking away.

Strength
Strength, as a spiritual adept, as a master strategist like Chariot, has tamed a predator, has prevented an attack, has nipped opposition in the bud. Strength is also about overcoming internal issues and conflicts – stifling one’s demons. The lemniscate – the proper word for that symbol above her head – is a symbol of spiritual ability; the white robe is purity; the flowers used as a belt goes along with those. The meaning of Strength’s illustration is that a spiritual person has the foresight and the insight to prevent intrusion and problems in advance. So Strength is when you see ahead and nip trouble in the bud. “I could see THAT coming,” we say..

Ten of Pentacles
Ten of Pentacles is any group you think of as ‘those people.’ Ten of Pentacles is dysfunctional misguided nogoodniks: people who don’t get along, people who are a problem as well as people who have problems. Ten of Pentacles is about conflict, discord, cultural issues, the relatives you don’t want to deal with. It can be troublemaking power people and troublemaking ghettoites. It can be the mob or gang, and it can be the politicians. Any human bunch that is a source of annoyance, disgust, trouble, aggravation, dislike and hate.
That is Tarot Verbatim’s™ Ten of Pentacles. Other systems aren’t there yet.
And how does Ten of Pentacles come to mean all these disagreeable things? Well, the illustration. It shows grandpa on his power seat, dictating to Son something that upsets Son’s Wife, who has a squalling kid pulling at her while Hubby stares away from her pleading. Been there? – done that? Even the dogs recognize Grandpa’s mastery. This is a family quarrel, and that is what gets Ten of Pentacles’ meanings started.
And P. S., it’s the third marriage card. It’s a dysfunctional marriage or relationship, unless both of the other marriage cards are also in your spread – in which case it gets promoted to match their function.
 |
Now Without The Pictures
|
Four of Cups and Ten of Pentacles say ‘We have no problems.’ Four of Cups is one of the main ‘negator’ cards whose negative words cancel the meanings of their neighbors; Ten of Pentacles is people with problems. So ‘We have no problems.’
And all by itself, Strength prevents problems from happening.
So Four of Cups and Ten of Pentacles = Strength.
Equations like this in a three-card spread make for for fancy stepping … splitting verbal hairs..
Our message is mainly twofold: (1) to not get involved with messed-up people in such a way that their problems are yours to fix and (2) Don’t let other people get to you. See the complications from misguided people coming and prevent them from landing on your doorstep. That’s our challenge for the day.
We take these formulas one step further and suggest that resolving inner conflicts, your own internal demons, keeps you from being drawn to those same things in other people’s stories. (Analyze what was up with your parents, and you won’t end up ‘married to your mother.’)
Strength and Four of Cups are both not letting something happen. Strength has engaged with the thing that isn’t going to happen, to quash or prevent it. Four of Cups simply isn’t letting it go through, is refusing it, vetoing it, and doesn’t want it.

Tarot Readings for You, Tarot Verbatim
GUIDANCE Do you feel like the only sane one in a mixed-up world? Well, so do they! I think I’m all right, like most people do; and we all agree everybody’s messed up, society is messed up. The idea is not to get involved in other people’s struggles, troubles and problems, so as to have as sane a life as possible. And when I get myself to that sane and sensible plateau, I can better resist the contamination that surrounds me from my neighbors!

.

Four of Cups – If ever a picture said ‘No,’ this is it. He turned down three other cups, and is refusing the next with his head down and turned away, his arms crossed, and is even seated with his legs crossed. So Four of Cups is an emphatic negator card. Occasionally, it will mean a negative word – like today’s ‘disown’ – but generally Four of Cups is putting a damper on some other Tarot card’s meaning by simply adding a negative modifier in Tarot Verbatim™.
.
Four of Cups often says ‘(I) don’t want.’ Today, it says ‘opt out.’ Once in a while, it is about resisting temptation.

Ten of Pentacles – Ten of Pentacles is one of the cards Tarot Verbatim™ has a different concept for than other systems do. (Funny how that’s three in a row here!) What you are looking at is clearly a family disagreement or even feud. Wife has the squalling kid pulling on her skirt as she pleads with Husband and he stares off in another direction. She obviously gets no respect, has no say. But Grandpa does. Grandpa sits on his throne, being adored by the dogs, as he lets son do the arguing. I suspect the old man wants another grandchild.
.
By far the most frequent translate for Ten of Pentacles is about ‘problem’ and ‘trouble.’ People who have a problem. People who are a problem. People’s problems and struggles. Disagreements, and things are a mess – family politics or any other sort of politics. Relatives.
.
Ten of Pentacles is one of the cards that means a group of people, and it’s the negative one, the one about not getting along. (But if the other two family/marriage cards appear in your spread along with Ten of Pentacles, then Ten of Pentacles is promoted to be another one of them.) Ten of Pentacles is a dysfunctional relationship – any kind at any level with any number of sides or people.
.
Ten of Pentacles embraces both ghetto and wealthy neighborhoods and people. A powerful family or riffraff. It can represent the neighborhood gangs, the Mafia, or the controlling political powers that be, for instance.
.
You find organizations and the word ‘organized’ in Ten of Pentacles, and it flat-out all by itself says ‘organized crime.’

Justice – Justice is another example of an illustration that makes most of the meanings of a card clear. You see the scales and the sword raised with its flat side toward the viewer, and you see law enforcement, right? And Justice represents any sort of legal setting or person, the most obvious and frequent being lawyers, police, judges and court personnel. It refers to types of legal proceedings, of course, which brings it words like ‘sue’ and ‘prosecuted.’
.
Justice is all about what should be and what ought to be done, how it’s supposed to be, what is right and fair, what is sane and straight. It means to straighten out sometimes too. Justice also is about getting what you deserve and what you are entitled to. ‘Just deserts,’ it says today. It also often means ‘all right.’
.
.
.
.
LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING
LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES..
… .. …..
….
Four of Cups is a very very simple Tarot card, so it’s an anchor card – but not much of one because it’s a big
negator, and it can attach itself to either of the other cards in our spread which has no question or Querant to indicate what
Four of Cups’ job is.
Four of Cups is a
negative modifier most of the time – simple as that. So it can turn another card into its opposite meaning, which can be a big deal. It turns
Justice into ‘It’s
not
fair,’ for instance.
.
To illustrate how simple this is, here is the list of
Four of Cups’ translates in each of our sentences today, in sequence:
shutting out
no way
I’m not one of _,
neither am I
don’t want
no _
no _ here
stayin’ outta
won’t mess with
is not being
to just say ‘no’
it’s not
isn’t the way
opt out
I don’t _
you can’t
never get
nothing’s _
no, things are not
don’t
you can’t
have no
I haven’t been
disown
I don’t want to
.
So the first thing I notice is that we have
Justice,
things the way they are supposed to be; and we have
Ten of Pentacles,
people who are problems and/or
people who have problems – things are definitely
not the
way they are supposed to be,
are messed up. And
Four of Cups stands by to slap a negative on either side of this fence. So this spread says
things are messed up, are
not
the way they are supposed to be, as well as saying things are
not
messed up, they
are the way they are supposed to be. This spread says both ‘I’m
not
crazy, I’m
sane’ and ‘I’m
not
sane, I’m
crazy,’ in other words. Usually the story you ask the question about indicates which of the two choices is valid.
.
Some cards, especially the ones that talk about
problems and
setbacks and
difficulties, take over. They determine which meaning the other cards use – they bring out certain categories of meanings in your other cards. (That is what Tarot Verbatim™ is all about.)
Ten of Pentacles is such a card, for sure.
.
Be aware that all the negative cards have harmless (innocuous) meanings.
Ten of Pentacles is no different in this respect. It’s one of the
marriage/family/group/home/building cards. All of the family cards expand from the couple to groups of any size in Tarot Verbatim™, and mean buildings as well.
Ten of Pentacles is the negative card of the three ‘marriage cards.’ As I said, it means
problems and
trouble regarding other people, generally. (The other two are Four of Wands, the wedding, and Ten of Cups, the American dream.)
.
Note that Ten of Pentacles can simply translate phrases like:
other people;
powerful family;
everybody;
relatives;
people you know;
disagreement over anything –
disagreement itself.
Ten of Pentacles can say ‘
them’ and ‘
those people’ too – and even say ‘
us,’ depending on the context.
.
So Ten of Pentacles is our key, controlling, card.
Four of Cups stands by to cancel whatever trouble
Ten of Pentacles is talking about. For example, with
Justice being ‘legal,’ and with
Ten of Pentacles meaning ‘
problems,’
Four of Cups changes that to ‘
No
legal
problems.’
.
Justice of course means
legal, and it means
sane and
right and
fair and
straight or
straighten out, and
ought. (It means
‘all right’ too, in the various ways that phrase is used.) Those are easy ones, and they are most of
Justice’s dictionary.
Justice also means
deserved and
entitled. It can also represent any sort of agent or employee who works or operates in the
justice industry – from
police to
lawyers and
judges, to simply
enforcement.
.
Odd thing about
Justice: the scent of marriage clings to his robes.
Justice does not per se mean marriage; it’s not a marriage card. But
Justice makes any marriage card say ‘
legal marriage,’ and from here you find that hint of
matrimony associated with
Justice. Today, the phrase ‘
marry into’ slips out of
Justice’s mouth.
.
With
Four of Cups standing by, you can put the negative to any of those
Justice words up there, which brings out the
problems-and-trouble meanings of
Ten of Pentacles. There are an infinite supply of those, of course.
.
When your spread contains a
negator, plus two other cards which have opposite meanings, you can suspect the message is about some sort of balance, because neither of the opposite cards has full expression. You have an open door of some sort. You have sentences like ‘
Everyone is
entitled to
opt out.’
.
The gist of today’s messages is a kind of ‘
Everybody
can’t be
right’ sentiment.
. …..
..
.
.
AND NOW WITHOUT THE PICTURES:
Four of Cups is a very very simple Tarot card, so it’s an anchor card – but not much of one because it’s a big negator, and it can attach itself to either of the other cards in our spread which has no question or Querant to indicate what Four of Cups’ job is. ……….
.……..…….. As regular visitors to Tarot Verbatim™ Land know, Ten of Pentacles in Tarot Verbatim™ is people who are a problem or people who have a problem, and is the mob or power people in a pejorative way, as well as those troublemaking neighbors, relatives (or other bunches of people). (We have lots of cards that flatter those guys, don’t you worry!)
And here Ten of Pentacles is in the center of our story. To its left is: No way! – not having any of that – Don’t – Not gonna … and any other such sentiment. That’s Four of Cups, you know. To the right is Six of Pentacles, which divides the stories into different categories. So we have money exchanges regarding troublesome people (or trouble); we have paying respect regarding those no-class folks; and we have refusing input from groups we consider pests. We have these stories – lots of them – in detail.

Four of Cups……….Four of Cups is one of the first cards you learn. It says ‘No!’, and says it as many times as it takes. No way, Jose. What part of ‘no’ don’t you understand – the ‘N’ or the ‘O’? He is seated. He has arms and legs crossed. He is looking away from the offered chalices. Four of Cups doesn’t have to be that level of rejection, though; it can simply refer to ‘having no (whatever).’ Of course it means ‘to refuse’ and ‘there won’t be any,’ and similar phrases like ‘Don’t’ and ‘not going to.’ Here are other translates for this Four of Cups card for today’s sentences: won’t be any, haven’t been, never, I get no, disowns, staying out of, don’t let, unwanted, opt out.
.

Ten of Pentacles………..Ten of Pentacles is the dysfunctional (sleazy, criminal … any bad thing you can think of) bunch of people. Those nogoodniks. Those pests. THEM. Yeah, ‘them’ is the perfect short title for Ten of Pentacles. Ten of Pentacles is the trouble and the troublemakers and the people who endure either or both. It can be the ghetto or the boardroom, the street gang or the elite gang.
.

Six of Pentacles……….Six of Pentacles, what’s a Nice Card like YOU doing in a place like THIS? Six of Pentacles is giving and/or receiving, an exchange (usually of money or attention or treatment, including medical treatment). Six of Pentacles is respect; is paying your bills; is being fair and square and living up to your part as the other side of the exchange does the same. Six of Pentacles is giving them what they deserve (which, yes, can be revenge), and getting what you deserve. ‘Getting what’s coming to you.’
Remember that Four of Cups and Six of Pentacles say ‘Pay no attention’ or ‘not paying attention’ as well as ‘Get no respect’ and ‘Have no respect for.’ And Ten of Pentacles and Six of Pentacles are those ‘slows’ who don’t pay their bills.
.
.
Well, some people just aren’t worth giving the time of day to. Some people are trouble, and we had best pay no attention to them. How vividly we describe this scenario today. Ain’t no other way to interpret it – over and over, with different variations on the same theme. They’re out there today. Best stay home, unless, of course, that’s where yours are today.
.

Four Card Spreads, Our Daily Spread
=========================================================================
Is this the first time you come here? Well …
HOW TO USE THE MATERIAL WE HAVE FOR YOU HERE. Read the sentences, the TAROT ANALYSIS, and pick out the ones that seem to apply to you, to the people around you. They are a Tarot analysis of your day’s circumstances. As the day (or several days) unfolds, you may find the information is relevant. Some of this information refers to a longer time period. The question is: “Tell the visitors here something useful and meaningful to them.” Often, your adopting the attitude you feel in the blog works for your day! Some days are ‘keep an eye open’ and some are ‘green lights.’
Without a question to focus the answer, four cards can mean even contradictory things. Without a question also the pronouns in a group reading are less specific, more flexible, especially in some of these Rider Waite Tarot spreads. Especially when a pronoun is in parentheses, feel free to substitute.
The Advice section sums up a general meaning of all the sentences. It is the favorite of most of us.
Remember to share your experience with a comment here if you have words for it … I spend two or more hours a day writing to you, after all! Say hello back!
Photos of the animals that the people who call me support are in with the articles I wrote for you. Enjoy them too! Stefanie is the one who has posted the few we have here. She did not do much with a hundred or more I sent her. Later!
And you can call me at the 800 99 3 6 9 12 number from Eastern 1 p. m. to Eastern 1 a. m. at least, every day. I analyze business situations accurately too. (Testimonials are on the web site.)

Four of Cups
Ace of Cups, Ten of Pentacles, Four of Pentacles
Meanings and Illustrations: Observation of the Spread
We begin with the contrasting card, Ace of Cups, which is about cooperation, love and getting along – and all things harmless, like acceptance. Next is the Ten of Pentacles circle of people who don’t get along, are trouble or have trouble, who don’t fit in at all – may be foreigners or low class folk. They quarrel – whatever.
Then we have two Rider Waite Tarot cards that mean nearly the same thing: not having anything to do with. (Four of Pentacles and Four of Cups). So obviously love and family are involved, as well as not wanting anything to do with some people. Social politics. It happens in the best of human families.
Meanings and Illustrations: Individual Rider Waite Tarot Cards
Ace of Cups is loving cooperation, being fond of, getting along; approval, acceptance or fitting in; good feeling, health; harmless; warm and fuzzy. This is the Rider Waite Tarot card that shows the presence of God, represented by the dove and the wafer with the cross on it, infusing this flow of water that represents human consciousness by representing ‘the five humors’ or bodily fluids.
Ten of Pentacles is a dysfunctional family or circle of people who don’t get along, are trouble or have trouble, who don’t fit in at all – may be foreigners or low class folk. They quarrel – whatever. They can be a mob or gang, they can be any screwed up bunch of humans you can imagine. But this card also speaks of the trouble being experienced by people.
The illustration for Ten of Pentacles shows a family quarrel. Grandpa is on his chair throne petting the dogs while the married couple have a ‘discussion’ in which husband stares into the distance while wife talks earnestly and kid pulls on her clothes. You been there?
Four of Pentacles is holding it in, keeping a secret, not letting, withdrawing from or not acknowledging, keeping to yourself, being a miser. It’s also being ostracized or ostracizing. It speaks of a deficit, of ‘not much’ or even ‘not very.’ But it also means private, ‘deep down inside,’ and even a hug because he is hugging himself.
Its illustration shows a male figure outside of town hanging onto his money for dear life. Gray sky. He stares straight ahead and his expression, to me, would be outwaiting something troublesome.
Four of Cups is a stronger octave of Four of Pentacles. No way – not now, not ever. Have nothing to do with. Get it out of my face. Doesn’t admit or acknowledge. Denial. Illustration shows a fellow refusing each cup as it is offered.
Advice is about how there will be a circle of people you are in, and you don’t have to embrace each and every one; you can get along with who you get along with, and not get along – either partially or totally – with who you have little or nothing in common with. You don’t have to love everybody, you can just mind your own business if you don’t want to be part of others’ drama.
TAROT ANALYSIS
Family and Romance Perspective:
No secrets in this loving family.
Love you – am not going to withhold it – when we aren’t getting along.
Deeply in love but not wanting to be married because of the relatives.
We don’t let being broke complicate our relationship, we love one another.
It’s not unconditional love but not a troubled relationship either.
Do not approve of the relatives so have little to do with them.
Our family health isn’t the best but we won’t acknowledge that.
Doesn’t get along with that faction of the family very well.
Social Perspective:
Very little cooperation from these low class folks, they just refuse to.
Not going to admit he got into trouble, they won’t get along with him.
We don’t admit there’s not enough good feeling in our circle.
The gang members refuse to cooperate; they keep one another’s secrets.
Not very fond of them, but not making trouble for them.
Not having much money means they don’t accept you into their circle.
They keep to themselves because they don’t fit in with the crowd.
Deeply spiritual, not going along with the common culture.
Deep down, wants nothing to do with getting along with foreigners.
Not one of those dysfunctional types but not totally warm and fuzzy either.
They’re a mess but they’re harmless, you don’t have to ostracize them.
