….. …….…… ….. ………, Here we have three Rider Waite Tarot cards all of whom have few basic meanings. This makes fewer sentences possible, and less variety in their words.
Three of Wands is money and good things coming your way. Six of Pentacles is getting your due, and giving them their due, is receiving or paying money, and receiving or paying respect or attention.
With two out of three cards meaning getting paid or paying, or money coming in, you have a too-rich theme. It’s difficult to find a variety of interpretations. You fall back on Three of Wands meaning ‘continuing’ and making the sentence future, and Six of Pentacles meaning paying a fine, getting what is deserved, getting credit for something, and getting attention.
The third card too has few branches to its tree. Knight of Wands is in a hurry or rushing or speeding, is leaving or fleeing, and also means to pursue. It is about putting a lot of energy into something too, about being gung-ho about something.
So just about every one-sentence reading is about money exchanges.

Six of Pentacles also means to pay, to give and to receive respect and/or attention, and fairness or a fair exchange – business. Knight of Wands You see a fellow with a panic look as his mount rears. He carries his weapon, a board, down. Hurry, rush, speeding: This is the main thought for Knight of Wands. Like Knight of Swords, it means both pursuing and fleeing, coming and leaving. Knight of Wands is putting all his energy into something – chasing his dream or his girl. He is on the road and in a hurry, which brings up speeding. He is leaving town … getting out of Dodge, going AWOL, or has the police on his tail, or is relocating, moving to a different town. You often find Knight of Wands, as today, next to ‘money coming’ cards, so that he is chasing money.
Three of Wands Three of Wands has as few meanings as Knight of Wands does. You see a well-dressed fellow patiently waiting for ships in the harbor to dock. Story is, they bear his profit. Three of Wands is ‘Your ship is coming in’ or ‘The check really is in the mail.’ Three of Wands is mostly about money, or other good things, coming in. It also means waiting, means ‘looking forward to,’ and it is a big ‘future’ card, putting nearby Tarot neighbors into future tense and supplying words that mean ‘future.’
Six of Pentacles In the scene on the card, an employer pays wages by weighing the gold coins on a scale, to pay scrupulously the actual value of the coins rather than the face value. Fairness, a fair exchange, paying labor, and workers getting a paycheck are featured in the illustration, but the application includes giving a person his or her due, getting credit for your accomplishments, getting what you deserve, getting and giving attention, getting and giving recognition or respect. Six of Pentacles can be about an exchange, a sale, a delivery.
The scales, added to its fairness theme, draw Six of Pentacles into being one of the minor legal cards. It means a legal proceeding, and can be about paying fines or about being served (with papers). It can be a settlement in which you either pay or get paid, and Three of Pentacles is the main settlement card.

Knight of Wands is on the road with great energy in a hurry, speeding even. Today he is gung-ho in hot pursuit of the prize. He is on a horse that looks like it’s mounting up, and to me the knight rider looks a little on the apprehensive side, so the illustration is more apt for fleeing than pursuing, but Tarot Verbatim uses this Rider Waite card for both.
Ace of Pentacles means perfect, the right path, right, money, success, the road, perfect, straight. It shows the straight and narrow path with lilies in front and an archway at the far end that has roses growing on it for attainment. There’s a hand with a big sum of money in it over the path.
Three of Wands many be the simplest card in the Tarot VerbatimTM galaxy. It talks about income or money coming in, anything good coming, and it puts a future tense to another card’s verb or adds the ‘will’ or ‘well be.’ A merchant all dressed up watches the ships come in that carry his money and new merchandise. That’s you, today.
Ace of Cups means anything good: love, good health, cooperation, benefit and no harm, safety, God, ease and easy, relaxed, going with the flow or ‘going along with.’ The illustration is about a human’s five senses (the five little streams coming off the fountain) channeling the presence of God into human mass consciousness (represented by the ocean). This fountain idea is a famous one from a saint’s famous book.

In these group readings, there’s no question (and no Questioner) to limit what the four cards can mean, so they can mean opposite things.
When there is a negative-meaning card (a ‘negator,’ I call them), the readings contradict one another because that card can make any of the other cards in the spread negative. Negator cards mean things like: no, never, not, end, can’t, etc. Never be queasy about the number of ‘bad’ card because it takes two bad cards to say ‘not dead’ and only one to say ‘dead.’
Without a question or a Questioner, pronouns (I, you, he, she, we, they, etc.) are very flexible. I leave out pronouns in writing this as much as possible – awkward to do that sometimes. When I put them in parentheses, feel very free to change them around to suit yourself.
Now in a ‘real’ individual reading, the questioner asks a specific question which provides at least half the information! In an individual’s reading, the parties are identified and sometimes a time frame is too. Here, in a group reading, we cannot do that and so we get more variety of sentences.
Horoscopes are group readings, too. Astrology is based on someone else’s birth data, though, so a ‘solar’ group horoscope never really solidly applies to you! (Astrologers want you to know this!)
Tarot successfully addresses the group of visitors, whoever they are. It provides useful information that applies to their daily lives: They tell you this in the comments, for three years now. Tarot can tell you things about people you don’t know personally – such as whoever on your job has a say in your raise or continued employment there, whether that is one person or many. Without a question to focus the answer, four cards can mean contradictory things especially when the Spread has a card that negates other cards. Without a question also the pronouns in a group reading are more flexible, especially in some of these Rider Waite Tarot spreads. When a pronoun is in parentheses, feel very free to substitute. The question in a ‘real’ individual reading supplies at least half the information!

========================================================= Meanings and Illustrations: Observation of the Spread To what do we owe this excess of hubris, good feeling and good news? – an intersection of Ace of Cups (love, God, easy, no harm, flow, health, good, good health) and Ace of Pentacles (perfect, the right path, right, money, success, the road, perfect, straight). Whew! And these wonders are flanked by Knight of Wands (energy, pursuit, hurry/fast/quick/speed, and energy) and Three of Wands who says “It’s coming.” It will be. Meanings and Illustrations: Individual Rider Waite Tarot Cards Knight of Wands is on the road with great energy in a hurry, speeding even. His illustration is a horse that looks like it’s jumping, and to me he looks a little on the apprehensive side, so the illustration is more apt for fleeing than pursuing, but Tarot Verbatim uses this Rider Waite card for both. Ace of Pentacles means perfect, the right path, right, money, success, the road, perfect, straight. It shows the straight and narrow path with lilies in front and an archway at the far end that has roses growing on it, a hand with a big sum of money in it over the path. Three of Wands many be the simplest card in the Tarot VerbatimTM galaxy. It talks about income or money coming in, anything good coming, and it puts a future tense to another card’s verb or adds the ‘will’ or ‘well be.’ A merchant all dressed up watches the ships come in that carry his money and new merchandise.

Knight of Wands Five of Pentacles, Three of wands, Empress Meanings and Illustrations: Being poor. Money coming in. Being well off, beautiful woman, life of luxury. In a hurry. That’s the story, in the order of appearance of the Rider Waite Tarot cards. Can you make a sentence out of these? I thought so. Five of Pentacles. Dark night of the soul. Misery. Bum on the street. Doing without. Poor times. Left out in the cold. Feeling poorly. Cognitive disability. Rags, poverty, etc. Self-pity. Despair. Shame, guilt, hopelessness. Illustration is, yes, bums on the street in rags, with injuries, in the snow at night, passing by the church that has warmth and food because they are numb and don’t notice the welcome. Three of Wands: So right after dire desperate lack of funds, we have money coming in, income, profit, and good times ahead. This Rider Waite Tarot card is one of our regulars. (Honest, I don’t stack the deck – even use different decks for this on purpose!) Illustration shows the merchant eyeballing his merchandise and money sailing into port. Empress: The lap of luxury, the life of ease. Either being the beautiful dame who has it all, or the fellow who rewards himself with the beautiful dame to have it all for himself. Illustration shows a lipsticked maiden in a slinky robe sitting on fine cushions in a fertile field (cuz she’s a fertility goddess, get it?) with a dull spoiled facial expression you see on beauty queens. Knight of Wands: He is another regular lately. His horse is galloping along in a hurry. He is moving: moving along, pursuing, fleeing, moving on up, making fast progress. Not much to him – that’s about it. =========================================================== Advice is about when you hit bottom, better times are ahead, so take advantage of the momentum and pursue your luxury, your dream space. Rags to riches is a more frequent story than settled-down to riches. There’s something about the bottom of the heap that inspires creative thought if you’ve got it in you at all. It is the trappings of wealth, the luxuries, that initially inspire profit-making. Did the likes of Mr. Trump get their start lusting over fast cars and women? Probably. ============================================================ TAROT ANALYSIS Romantic Perspective: After a while, he misses the woman he loves enough to pursue her. She is a fine looking woman so she just waits until he does without long enough to get moving. She can do without until some fellow pursues her: She is a trophy woman. When he is left out in the cold, he is going to move on to some good looking lady. He lacks the income to chase such A Woman Like Her. She is getting away from being ashamed of being sexy. Business Perspective: The woman is going from rags to riches fast. In the glamor business, you can make fast money. She feels undeserving of the luxuries from all this money coming in so fast. The poor man made money fast, and has his beautiful bride. She did not make money in the glamor field until she moved out of town. With all her talent, she is/was broke, but now the money will be coming in fast. She is well on her way to making good money, and she has a life of ease, but feels like a failure. Having been poor for so long, this progress makes her feel very rich. She is on her way to a comfortable income, feeling guilty all the way.

The question behind your Daily Spread messages is “Tell the people who come to this blog about their day, what is happening to them.” The cards above made one of the first ‘Daily Spread’ messages when Stef and I were birthing this Tarot Verbatim blog. I, Emily looked at it and said “I CAN’T PUT THAT IN THERE!” So I did another one.
When I told Stef about the spread that said “going around in circles over and over again chasing forever,” she laughed a lot. She said, “I have noticed that these spreads match what my cats are doing.” (Stef rescues cats and cares for them like kings.) “And here’s this gray kitten: He has been CHASING HIS TAIL all day without letup with great energy, and I’ll bet he will be doing that tomorrow as well.” (which did happen!)
I thought about this. At the time I lay down these cards, guess who was the main person going to the blog looking at it? – because it wasn’t fully up yet, and only a few people had been told about it. Well, Stef, of course.
SO the cards were describing what was happening in HER life. Accurately. Those cats are her life, are what is happening in her house.
This echoes another story that happened when I was teaching myself the Tarot, which turned out to be Tarot Verbatim, way back in 1980. I will tell you that story in a few days.
