Nine of Pentacles

Nine of Pentacles has everything she wants right at her fingertips, and does whatever she chooses in her robe at noon, falcon on her wrist in her vineyard. Prosperity and privacy are hers. You don’t have to be rich by the numbers to be comfortable in your circumstances and beholden to no one. Nine of Pentacles pictures a person who has enough and who is in charge of her situation and her environment, a person who is minding her own business, and not involved with yours. The snail says she does things in her own sweet time. Playing with her falcon in a vineyard at midday, wearing a robe, says she does what she chooses. She can be home-based, and she can be in a comfortable professional niche. Often she is a businesswoman in charge of something. She is likely to be the owner of real estate, home or business. But she could be content minding a budget successfully in humble circumstances too.

 

 

World

World is a citizen of ‘out there’ with little connection to the mundane, is a spiritual adept. She repels all bad influences: The bad guys don’t want to deal with her because of her expertise, and she has little in common with the physical realm – hence the barrier wreath in the illustration. See the monsters on the outside of that wreath?

In a world of her own, dancing to a different drummer, shutting out the lower life forms with her magic wreath. There’s our World girl. Very esoteric (occult) card, she: a Master of Both Worlds is someone who operates in both the dark side and the deity side on the inner planes. Demons don’t notice her because she has beaten them already: That is what the critters who are looking away from her on the other side of the wreath-wall are all about.

In the real Tarot World, though, World is about being in a category of its own, about not letting things get to you, about not having any connection and being unavailable.  It’s also in the trophy woman theme as the curvy girl.

 

Ace of Pentacles

Ace of Pentacles unites the concepts of being right and possessing wealth and success: a hand with gold in it over the ‘right path,’ pictured as a gold road beginning with lilies and ending in a rose arbor. All is well.

Ace of Pentacles stands for the proposition that the road to success is paved with good moral behavior. Its meanings echo that position: money, ownership, success, being right, being on the Path, everything being okay or even perfect. The big arch with the roses is the winning (or victory) part, and the lilies – white of course – are the purity part.

 

 

 

 

 

Ace of Pentacles means perfect, and World is some state of perfection. Ace of Pentacles is ‘on the right path’ and World has arrived as an adept, a person skilled in living free of interference from anything.

Nine of Pentacles and World are two female cards that have many of the same meanings, the main of which is not being interfered with, doing as they wish in their own sweet time, being skilled, being superior, being alone, and ‘Do Not Disturb.’ They are not involved (like Four of Swords).

Nine of Pentacles owns a business and/or land. She is pictured at home with her falcon in her vineyard: very real-world. World is pictured inside a (magic) circle, dancing nude with the same pair of magic wands that Chariot uses, and being invisible to the bad-guy spirits in the neighborhood.

Both these women choose to be alone and not associate with others, are not married, are independent, and are content with who and what they are. So Nine of Pentacles and World belong in the same bin.

Nine of Pentacles is content to be right where she is. She is successful right where she is, and may be wealthy. She may be a businesswomen, even an entrepreneur, or she may feel she simply has enough. She is in charge of the turf she is on, at any rate – has her head screwed on straight and is a complete person unto herself. At least she owns her turf, which may be owning land, a home, or a business.

Ace of Pentacles is having money and success in hand – maybe a lot. Ace of Pentacles is profit as well as success.

So Nine of Pentacles and Ace of Pentacles belong in the same bin.
