It’s this warm feeling of ‘us guys are the good guys’ that give humans a reason for living, a raison d’être, so we seek our tribe.

Ace of Swords
No room for doubt here. Winner take all. It’s all one way. It’s 100% unequivocally, no room for doubt. It’s (this) or else. Defeat totally or victory totally, no gray zone. Here’s the main point, the most important (whatever). Here’s what has to be. Here is the most extreme, the best or maybe even the worst (depending on the story).
Ace of Swords is a threat or is a challenge too – a do-it-or-perish kind of challenge.
The illustration says this just as unequivocally. A hand grasps an upright double-edged sword which is crowned, and then the crown is crowned with the laurel leaves of victory.
Lovers
What a hodgepodge of of meanings and symbols we have here! Put the illustration’s concepts together, and you have the idea that the sexual bond a couple has for one another is of the same invasive nature as the bond divinity has for humans. The volcano is there, and the twin trees from the Garden of Eden saga are there, to confess all is not warm-fuzzy love.
Lovers has more miscellaneous meanings than most cards. Although Lovers obviously means lovers, and a couple, and sexual passion (what with the snake and the volcano and the nudity), you find it showing up more frequently to mean connection (to connect; we connect; direct connection), contact, being with, plural pronouns we/us/they/them, partner(s), getting together, being on the same side … even, sometimes, standing next to a person (propinquity).A good example of Lovers’ propensity to have wildly miscellaneous meanings is that accompanied by Seven of Cups (the cloud), the volcano in Lovers says ‘pyroclastic’ for the pyroclastic flow volcanoes have. A far reach, yes.
The angel represents both surveillance (He is watching them: Is he the angel that evicted them from paradise?) and protection. The protection extends to insurance, and to being covered by insurance. And the angel of course represents God’s interest in those humans. A connection to God therefore is one of Lover’s meanings.
The angel also brings Lovers ‘higher-ups’ in job questions.
And don’t forget the angel brings eavesdropping to Lovers, along with the surveillance. If Hermit is around, there’s an investigation, not just someone butting in being nosy.
Page of Wands
Along with Page of Pentacles, Page of Wands’ source of meanings is that pages were apprentice knights who were being trained and tested to see whether they could perform knighthood’s role. This training was official and had several tests to it, so pages aim to please, to measure up. Identity is a main theme of both Page of Pentacles’ and Page of Wands’ applications.
Page of Wands specifically is the well-spoken well-dressed clean-cut fresh-faced good guy. Usually young or youngish. This is Prince Charming. He is associated not just with being but with speaking, so he stands up for what he believes … is a stand-up guy, as we say. He is proud … proud to be whatever he is being.Less obvious from the picture is the fact Page of Wands (like Hierophant, also not-so-obviously) means ‘physical.’ Page of Wands translates ‘bodily’ in various contexts – like today’s ‘insured for bodily injury.’
Page of Wands translates ‘person’ as well as ‘personal.’ It also translates ‘self.’Think of it this way. Both Page of Pentacles and Page of Wands mean words like he, him, self, person, guy, man, good-guy, etc. But Page of Pentacles adds words about thinking and feeling, and Page of Wands adds words about speaking and standing for something.

Now Without The Pictures

Ace of Swords is winning, being superior, being the champion; Page of Wands is the one who does that: He is a winner, he stands for, he stands up for, he speaks up proudly. Centered between them is Lovers which is about being on a side, connected one-on-one. These three cards roughly state something like: We are absolutely the good guys; we are winners. Unity.
These three cards also give you a theme of directly connecting verbally: getting the point across to them. Connecting verbally when the right words are said. Language is the best way to get on the same page with someone.
We have a picture of proud unity – of the ‘us’ without the ‘them,’ of how good we feel about ourselves when we connect with what we feel is the best, the supremely right (whatever it is). Note that all we speak of is the generality. This applies to excellence of any sort. For all I know, it’s being the best quilter, the best canner, or the fellow who shoots the straightest. It doesn’t have to be about moral superiority or power.

Hi Emily,
I am getting back to you after a while, because I could not make sense of the reading when I received it.
Now, part of it has taken form. The young man gave his word that he would give it his best shot. So (since in my opinion he has potential) I agreed to partner up with him and partially financed his entry fee.
He is keeping his word and putting in some effort, but I get the feeling that he may think this is more work than he bargained for.
Do not have a clue about the rest of the reading. Could it also be read differently?
Next time maybe we should get on the phone. Tell me how we can do that.

Pieces of it can be read to contradict other parts. The way I read it, it is as consistent as I can make it, which is likely to be the most accurate.
.
Since I live in the wilderness, and three phone companies are involved in my phone service in a way I will never understand, telephone connections tend to be not ideal even for domestic calls, let alone international ones. The 208 993-1657 is the line I do readings on.
.
It is wiser to identify what the project is. Even, maybe, to ask ‘will the man do what is expected of him,’ or ‘what I expect of him,’ or will he do XYZ (some specific action). Questions with that form identify the situation in such a way the meanings of the cards can be applied with more certainty and precision. Not doing that, it’s still a valid question, but a general question that must needs get a general answer. The reader (me in this case) therefore ‘goes out on a limb,’ as I did when I made Six of Pentacles ‘paying a third party.’ Six of Pentacles means, in business deals, to pay a person fairly for his labor.

It looked like a business deal to me. You asked what you would see him do. Be aware that is (deliberately) a little different question from what he actually does – it leaves out whatever part you don’t see him do.
.
This story says, yes, he is in over his head and (Nine of Wands) hanging in there because he gave his word (Page of Wands). It goes on to say that men take over (King of Pentacles and Emperor, two controlling men) and leave a woman (maybe you) out of it (presumably out of the project, or maybe out of a part of it), that she is angry (Queen of Swords is not getting what’s rightfully hers, and is angry). I suspect what the Queen of Swords is left out of and angry about is paying a third party (free lancer who does know how to do what Mr. C. is having trouble with?).

The ‘big announcement,’ Judgment, would be the woman’s demand (Queen of Swords is a woman making a demand) and she is straightening the situation out (Strength, the woman who prevents harm by being proactive). Judgment is a legal card, so the woman may call down regulators (King of Cups is a bureaucrat or a regulator or an agency, and Queen of Swords is ‘the complainant’ or the plaintiff in litigation). King of Cups, really, could be another man in the story, too.

The way I connect these dots is: The lady expects the Subject to do something re this project. The man tries, sweats it out, but hangs in there. Then he involves other people (the two controlling men, the kings), and they do it their way – ‘make the decision and leave the woman out of it,’ King of Pentacles and World).
.
Judgment is also a surprise discovery, so when the woman finds out about this she has a lot to say (Queen of Swords), and takes action herself to get the situation going her way (Strength) – and Strength is a ‘stronger than the problem’ kind of Tarot card.
.
The last spread shows how upset, possibly horrified (Nine of Swords) Mr. Subject is when the woman, presumably you, gets annoyed and takes action to prevent something she sees as a problem. (Guess: she prevents the payment.)
.
If my way of connecting these dots is correct, you will discover something, probably an expense, that calls for corrective action on your part.

We can hash this out verbally if you wish to call. This writing may clarify the answer though. (And this took a lot of time).

Ace of Pentacles is success and money, and Page of Wands is the fellow with the good image, well-dressed and well-spoken. Page of Wands is the spokesperson and Lovers means contact or connection.
Ace of Pentacles is a road, and Eight of Cups is to detour off of a road.
Page of Wands is the good-looking well-dressed handsome (young) man and Lovers of course is a lover or love partner.
Lovers + Eight of Cups is leave the lover. Ace of Pentacles + Lovers is perfect lover, success at love.
Eight of Cups is a sudden change of direction, or simply means abrupt or abruptly, which can apply to anything.

He carries the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval, you know. Often this Rider Waite Tarot card in Tarot Verbatim ™ simply means to speak, talk, speak up, stand up, to say the right words or have the right word. |

Lovers Layers of meanings for this one. Besides the obvious, it means protection, connection, contact, overseeing, divine or angelic protection, standing next to another person or standing with them, partner as well as love partner. Also, a couple, joint or jointly, and ‘the two of them’ or ‘the two of us.’ |

Eight of Cups Parallel illustrations here. The full and sliver moon suggests a beginning and ending; the pedestrian changing direction because terrain forced it suggests ending one direction and beginning another, with intent to resume later. So this is about an aborted attempt, a premature action, something ‘over with before it began.’ |

Without a question to focus the answer, four cards can mean contradictory things especially when the Spread has a card that negates other cards. Without a question also the pronouns in a group reading are more flexible, especially in some of these Rider Waite Tarot spreads. When a pronoun is in parentheses, feel very free to substitute. The question in a ‘real’ individual reading supplies at least half the information!

WELL, we start out with love and marriage, then a good-looking guy, and then a woman who can handle or influence (whatever).
Four of Wands is marriage, or family, or a company or organization or group. Lovers is being in love, being or having a love partner, connection, contact. Page of Wands is the good looking fellow, and also means to speak, to be identified with, to be a good, respectable person. Strength is the woman who overcomes, solves, handles, influences.
So we have a story.
MEANINGS AND ILLUSTRATIONS: INDIVIDUAL RIDER WAITE TAROT CARDS
Four of Wands shows a society wedding, a community celebration uniting a guy and gal in love and their families in marriage. So it means all those things.
Lovers has the obvious meaning, depicting a man and woman nude as Adam and Eve, but is more complex than that. Today we are using only the meanings that relate to a man and woman uniting. So, love, connection, contact, being in love.
Page of Wands is a clean-cut, good looking (usually young) man, often the well-dressed type. It also means to speak and to be identified with, as well as to stand for.
He is the ‘fair-haired boy’ in the illustration.
Strength of character is the main message of this Rider Waite Tarot card. It shows a woman in a white robe making the lion who attacked her purr because of her ‘vibe.’ She wears flowers and has the symbol of eternity over her head.
