Six of Wands – The fellow who won the battle has the wreaths and the celebration to prove it but his wise steed (horse) knows better: See that wink? The fellow is about to be kidnapped by the enemy and held captive for his whole life. So the victory isn’t. This is a story of an event in England’s history, and the fellow was a king. So Six of Wands’ main meaning is to not trust what you seem to have going for you, and is a main card for schemes and conspiracies (along with Two of Cups).

Six of Wands boils down to, most of the time, ‘Appearances are deceiving.’ It’s about phony friends and dirty tricks in competitions. It has a lot of negative meanings, therefore, like crooks and scoundrels misleading us, like being taken advantage of, like ‘Games People Play,’ like doing it by any means fair or foul, like any sort of self-serving, like stealing credit for accomplishment, like anything sneaky or cheating.

But Six of Wands’ larger application is going along with the program, cooperating with your people, playing the role you find yourself in, polite pretenses (as well as nefarious ones).

Six of Wands represents the influences and interests that draw people in (sports, movements, intellectuals taking sides and promoting an idea, politics, mindsets – and a lot more). This Six of Wands card also appears for being under the spell or charisma of a person or idea or thing or interest. Six of Wands expands to embrace any human herd of any kind, without involving conspiracy. Like people who are missionarying, wanting you to believe or buy or join … or sign that petition. And also getting drawn into, or sucked into, any of those sorts of things.

Six of Wands often means these phrases that indicate appearances are deceiving, phrases like these and their cousins: as if, seems like, as if it were, only seems to be.

Now naturally this Six of Wands concept is involved in marketing big time, since marketing is convincing others and getting them drawn in. So Six of Wands means marketing and many of its activities … yeah, like that damned sales funnel they fuss about.

Six of Pentacles – An employer is carefully weighing the gold coins he pays his workers. The coins are worth only the gold left in them. And these laborers have patches on their clothes. This picture gives rise to a heap of meanings, which, if you want to know all, you can Google ‘Six of Pentacles Tarot Verbatim’ for the whole archive of them.

The main meanings to keep in mind are the giving, the receiving, the fairness, the exchange (hand-to-hand), the paycheck, the paying out of money, and money or finances in general. Also remember that the scales give Six of Pentacles legal meanings.

Six of Pentacles can simply be giving or getting a gift, maybe intangibles like advice or encouragement, or lending someone an item.

Six of Pentacles can simply be receiving, like being a recipient of a benefit like, say, a pension or medical coverage. (Not today.)

Lovers – This illustration is cluttered with meanings. Adam and Eve side by side to one another and their trees. The funky angel looking down on them, red wings spread. The volcano with its cloud. And this ain’t the Garden of Eden – the ground is barren. (Makes you wonder about pyroclastic flow.)

The main thing to associate with Lovers is, well, association. Connection not only between people, but connecting up – any connection, like ideas, or a garden hose. Closeness. Being side by side (propinquity), or being on the same side. Being in contact, and contact itself.

Connection like togetherness, like having joint interest (joint anything). ‘Both of us’ and ‘together’ are frequent translates for Lovers. So close is the connection that Lovers can translate as plural pronouns: we, us, they, them, our, their, and ‘the two of them.’ Lovers also can say ‘couple’ as well as ‘partners.’
