Three of Pentacles
The builder meets with his clients, blueprints in hand, to demonstrate he deserves his final and largest draft (payment). Three of Pentacles shows up more often than other cards (for me at least). It about any get-together of people. It is about an agreement they come to, and about the meeting and the putting of heads together, the negotiations that precede that agreement.
Three of Pentacles is about any kind of relationship: love, social, business, lawsuit, meeting on the street, gathering of relatives … any. It takes another card to make the get-together
Three of Pentacles is a real estate, and a legal card – real estate because of the builder and the building; legal because of the contract.
Eight of Cups
Comes a time a mountain is in your way. You go around it, usually, on a good day. That’s the story in Eight of Cups, and it emphasizes the change, the detour, the disruption of your intended course. (Yes, it belongs to the ‘change’ theme.) You are a pilgrim, and you want to head straight to the holy place. Eight of Cups aborts course. It spans quite the spectrum in that one meaning. The two phases of the moon conjoined refer to beginning and ending, so it’s over with before it begins, or you drop one project or direction for another. Change. Switch. Avoid, even – a frequent Eight of Cups word. Its action is immediate, unplanned.
Eight of cups often says ‘not anymore,’ with a word from another card between those words.
It is unexpected and unscheduled. It is canceled. It is unfinished. AWOL, runaway, dropout, escapee. Without notice, all of a sudden. And don’t forget ‘avoid.’
Fool
Fool’s illustration shows a person blithely about to skip off a cliff with his dog beside him on a fine sunny day, carrying a flower and no provisions for the pilgrimage. Nothing bad can happen to him; he is in the zone. That is why Fool can mean a clear mind, or to clear your mind.
Fool as the zero represents things, shall we say, in larval form? You could say Fool represents reality before the big bang. That is why it also means the inception, the beginning, to start anew, incipient. Fool is native to the spiritual dimension, not present physically, and therefore nothing physical happens to him: He is impervious to influence, like a kid, free-spirited and careless like a kid, optimistic like a kid. ‘Doin’ my own thing’ like a kid. He won’t fall over the cliff because he isn’t in the real world, and God protects Fools and drunks. Fool is free … of everything.
Fool represents the subconscious and superconscious.
In real Tarot practice Fool is unconcerned, not thinking. Fool is ‘forget it.’ What, me worry? I don’t care. Just let it be. Don’t even think about it. Assume. Or forget. May as well be oblivious, having no idea like a free-spirited youngster.

Eight of Cups and Fool both are about abandoning, being free, leaving, having no ties – in different ways. Eight of Cups is over with before it begins, quits without notice, abandons course, is out of there, is disenfranchised, is taking a detour or dropping out, changing course abruptly, possibly not voluntarily but because of circumstances.
Fool never was on the course, was born free, isn’t identified with or entangled or a member, isn’t even thinking that way.
Eight of Cups quit, but Fool never joined. Fool isn’t present, even. Fool is starting anew (every few hours) as Eight of Cups is ending before it’s finished. Eight of Cups can say ‘not completely,’ ‘haven’t completely,’ or ‘isn’t finished’ about any of Fool’s meanings. So I haven’t completely forgotten, am not completely free of, or haven’t quite quit – just on the verge.
So who’s the other Tarot guy at the Tarot table? – Three of Pentacles. That makes our story about the status of a business deal, a relationship, a meeting, a group of people. You forget a meeting is canceled. You assume they aren’t going to do as agreed. Maybe it isn’t quite a relationship.

Three of Pentacles – The man standing on the bench is showing his clients that, yes, he built their building according to the specifications in the blueprint. They have an agreement; they have an agreeable meeting. Each of them has done his part fairly in the contract they have, and they are getting along, teaming up, as they come to a settlement on the builder getting his last final draw that represents his profit.

Fool – Fool’s meanings are all over the place. Just remember Fool is the Zero, the cipher, the place-holder that changes the value of other cards but has none of its own. So Fool is about the absence of things, Fool is freedom from everything, Fool is open, including the open (subconscious) mind, and Fool is oblivious. Fool is ‘Let it be,’ no problem, ‘water off a duck’s back,’ and Fool is ‘just’ anything – just go along with it, just do it, don’t look down. Fool is young, optimistic, and has faith.
Ace of Cups – Ace of Cups is the easy flow of spiritual consciousness into a person and from there into mass consciousness. In this card, Tarot uses Roman Catholics symbols: the dove (Holy Spirit), that ‘W,’ the fountain that represents a human’s five senses that are flowing into the larger body of water. Water is consciousness, and that’s not just Tarot symbology.

Since Ace of Cups depicts God Consciousness flowing from a person to other people, Ace of Cups is the card for God – and Emperor, as the highest authority card, also represents God the Father.

Three of Pentacles
The builder meets with his clients, blueprints in hand, to demonstrate he deserves his final and largest draft (payment). Three of Pentacles shows up more often than other cards (for me at least). It about any get-together of people. It is about an agreement they come to, and about the meeting and the putting of heads together, the negotiations that precede that agreement.
Three of Pentacles is about any kind of relationship: love, social, business, lawsuit, meeting on the street, gathering of relatives … any. It takes another card to make the get-together
Three of Pentacles is a real estate, and a legal card – real estate because of the builder and the building; legal because of the contract.
Eight of Cups
Comes a time a mountain is in your way. You go around it, usually, on a good day. That’s the story in Eight of Cups, and it emphasizes the change, the detour, the disruption of your intended course. (Yes, it belongs to the ‘change’ theme.) You are a pilgrim, and you want to head straight to the holy place. Eight of Cups aborts course. It spans quite the spectrum in that one meaning. The two phases of the moon conjoined refer to beginning and ending, so it’s over with before it begins, or you drop one project or direction for another. Change. Switch. Avoid, even – a frequent Eight of Cups word. Its action is immediate, unplanned.
Eight of cups often says ‘not anymore,’ with a word from another card between those words.
It is unexpected and unscheduled. It is canceled. It is unfinished. AWOL, runaway, dropout, escapee. Without notice, all of a sudden. And don’t forget ‘avoid.’
Fool
Fool’s illustration shows a person blithely about to skip off a cliff with his dog beside him on a fine sunny day, carrying a flower and no provisions for the pilgrimage. Nothing bad can happen to him; he is in the zone. That is why Fool can mean a clear mind, or to clear your mind.
Fool as the zero represents things, shall we say, in larval form? You could say Fool represents reality before the big bang. That is why it also means the inception, the beginning, to start anew, incipient. Fool is native to the spiritual dimension, not present physically, and therefore nothing physical happens to him: He is impervious to influence, like a kid, free-spirited and careless like a kid, optimistic like a kid. ‘Doin’ my own thing’ like a kid. He won’t fall over the cliff because he isn’t in the real world, and God protects Fools and drunks. Fool is free … of everything.
Fool represents the subconscious and superconscious.
In real Tarot practice Fool is unconcerned, not thinking. Fool is ‘forget it.’ What, me worry? I don’t care. Just let it be. Don’t even think about it. Assume. Or forget. May as well be oblivious, having no idea like a free-spirited youngster.

Eight of Cups and Fool both are about abandoning, being free, leaving, having no ties – in different ways. Eight of Cups is over with before it begins, quits without notice, abandons course, is out of there, is disenfranchised, is taking a detour or dropping out, changing course abruptly, possibly not voluntarily but because of circumstances.
Fool never was on the course, was born free, isn’t identified with or entangled or a member, isn’t even thinking that way.
Eight of Cups quit, but Fool never joined. Fool isn’t present, even. Fool is starting anew (every few hours) as Eight of Cups is ending before it’s finished. Eight of Cups can say ‘not completely,’ ‘haven’t completely,’ or ‘isn’t finished’ about any of Fool’s meanings. So I haven’t completely forgotten, am not completely free of, or haven’t quite quit – just on the verge.
So who’s the other Tarot guy at the Tarot table? – Three of Pentacles. That makes our story about the status of a business deal, a relationship, a meeting, a group of people. You forget a meeting is canceled. You assume they aren’t going to do as agreed. Maybe it isn’t quite a relationship.

Three of Pentacles starts us off with an exchange – social, contract, business – or a meeting. Look for three people when this card comes up, especially if you see Three of Cups too. Three of Pentacles is about doing your part fair and square.
Then Six of Cups is about giving – also an exchange – and it is about old friends, loved one(s), trust, and an old home. Three of Pentacles and Six of Cups together suggest generosity in an exchange, suggest dealing generously with someone.
Fool just isn’t keeping track and doesn’t care – is oblivious – this doesn’t matter. Six of Cups and Fool are both cards of youth, incidentally. Fool bolsters the theme we have going here about a generous exchange with an old friends: Old friends don’t keep track of how fair their exchanges are, which is expressed by Three of Pentacles and Fool.
With Queen of Swords, we introduce as a factor in our story someone who is keeping track, someone who is feeling shortchanged, not getting what she expects, being demanding or whiny. Three of Pentacles and Queen of Swords tell of someone feeling cheated in the deal, someone did not get a fair shake. This is mama, grandma, the old lady – even the nag. It is a person with an actual grievance, or a person who enjoys playing the martyr. Six of Cups and Queen of Swords, though, turn her into the disciplinarian of the child or children – but these two Rider Waite Tarot cards also say “She’s just having a cranky day; we have a storybook relationship.” Queen of Swords and Fool is where we get “Never mind that someone feels shortchanged,” because Fool is that ‘never mind’ vibe.
So our message is all about an exchange. The gist of what these four Rider Waite Tarot cards have to say is: Don’t sweat the small change in your dealings with people, and never mind if someone feels cheated who wasn’t.

Three of Pentacles An architect meets with his clients and is demonstrating, with the blueprint, that he has perfected the construction and is entitled to his final draw, which is legal settlement in full of their contract. Three of Pentacles means meeting (especially three people), a business deal, each party doing its part fairly, settling up, relationship, paying up as agreed. It is getting together about something, putting our heads together, doing our part in a relationship with one another. Three of Pentacles applies to any relationship – love, business, social, etc.
Six of Cups Little Boy is giving Little Girl flowers. Behind them is an estate or apartment building. Both are well-dressed. The art style is kitsch, a warm and fuzzy representation of old friends, true love, the good old days, nostalgia, old-fashioned, love, love of the past, the sweet life. Six of Cups represents a cozy or quaint house or neighborhood too.
Fool So who’s keeping track? – not me, I don’t care. Just let it be. Don’t even think about it. Assume. May as well be oblivious, having no idea like a free-spirited youngster. Just for no reason at all instinctually. What, me worry? – I am just skipping along by the cliff with my trusty equally playful and oblivious puppy, and all will be well.
Queen of Swords Here’s who’s keeping track. The old lady is dissatisfied and grumpy about being slighted and shortchanged here. She demands things be rectified and that she get what’s rightfully hers, or what she thinks is rightfully hers … now would be good. There’s the righteous old lady with her hand out, with that Nurse Ratchett look on her face. She is the bitch card, the mother, the mother-in-law, the plaintiff or complainant. She is you when you are righteously indignant.

An exchange (even a contract or business deal) is the way we start. Three of Pentacles. Then we have giving generously, affectionately, Six of Cups – an old friend and sweetness. Then we have being oblivious or not keeping track, just … Fool. Then the critical grumpy shortchanged demanding mother-in-law, mama or old woman who is keeping track. So it’s all about an exchange.
Youth is in both Six of Cups and Fool. An exchange is in both Three of Pentacles and Six of Cups.

Three of Pentacles It’s a deal, it’s a relationship in which each party does his fair share. It’s a settlement. It’s final payment as agreed. It’s a contract. It’s a meeting, almost always of three people. We put our heads together. Our illustration shows the architect demonstrating to the clients that the building meets the blueprints, to qualify for his payoff.
Six of Cups We have a friendly exchange. A sweet relationship as of old friends in an old-fashioned way. Giving sweetly and generously out of the heart. Photo of Little Boy giving Little Girl flowers. The good old days hauntingly.
Fool So who’s keeping track – not me, I don’t care. Just let it be. Don’t even think about it. Assume. May as well be oblivious, having no idea like a free-spirited youth. Just for no reason at all instinctually. What, me worry? – I am just skipping along by the cliff with my trusty equally playful and oblivious puppy, and all will be well.
Queen of Swords Here’s who’s keeping track. The old lady is dissatisfied and grumpy about being slighted and shortchanged here. She demands things be rectified and she get what’s rightfully hers, or what she thinks is rightfully hers … now would be good. There’s the righteous old lady with her hand out and that Nurse Ratchett look on her face. She is the bitch card, the mother, the mother-in-law, the plaintiff or complainant. She is you when you are righteously indignant.

HOW TO USE THE MATERIAL WE HAVE FOR YOU HERE. Read the sentences, the TAROT ANALYSIS, and pick out the ones that seem to apply to you, to the people around you. They are a Tarot analysis of your day’s circumstances. As the day (or several days) unfolds, you may find the information is relevant. Some of this information refers to a longer time period. The question is: “Tell the visitors here something useful and meaningful to them.” Often, your adopting the attitude you feel in the blog works for your day! Some days are ‘keep an eye open’ and some are ‘green lights.’
Without a question to focus the answer, four cards can mean even contradictory things. Without a question also the pronouns in a group reading are less specific, more flexible, especially in some of these Rider Waite Tarot spreads. Especially when a pronoun is in parentheses, feel free to substitute.
The Advice section sums up a general meaning of all the sentences. It is the favorite of most of us.

Meanings and Illustrations: Observation of the Spread
You can tell at a glance that three four cards are not going to make a variety of stories. We have two old people, or a complaining woman and a powerful man (tyrant/government overtones), which are the Queen of Swords and the Emperor. Queen of Swords and Emperor are two old people with controlling or disagreeable attitudes.
Then we have the Fool ‘Oh, don’t bother me, I don’t know’ kind of thing. He is youthful and probably actually young. And right in the middle is the deal (or relationship, or meeting).
Fool and Emperor are both not listening, for two very different reasons: Emperor is too important to pay attention to you, and Fool is oblivious by virtue of youth.
So at first glance, there’s something unfair that is the subject of a complaint, and Authority is not listening to it. And there’s no second glance, that I can see. All the sentences state this idea in its various nuances.
Meanings and Illustrations: Individual Rider Waite Tarot Cards
Queen of Swords is resentful of the way she is being treated: She does not have and is not getting what is rightfully hers. This makes her the ex-wife, the old mama-bat, the bitch … all those stereotypes we aren’t supposed to think of. She means complain, and kinda means ‘petition’ as in petition a grievance.
The illustration for her is this older looking woman sitting sternly erect on a throne with a baby’s face on it (The card somehow means she is a grieving mother.) Her mouth is set in a straight line (Don’t you love the subtle way Pamela Coleman Smith draws facial expressions?)
Three of Pentacles is a deal, a meeting, a meeting of the minds or agreement, a contract,business, and a relationship. Its illustration shows the architect’s final inspection with his clients of the building, a cathedral, prior to his final payment per contract.
Fool is the ‘Don’t bother me with the facts’ dude. Don’t know, don’t care, just let it go, just let it be – just anything. He is that fella who is prancing off the cliff with his puppy dog. These days, he would have an earful of music.
Emperor Here come da judge. This is, say, Al Gore or Bob McCain, or, The Man, the VIP. He is too important to listen. He is a tyrant, whether family or by reason of some title. He is ‘the Old Man,’ the Establishment, the father or father figure: very rigid, overcontrolled … constipated is my word for these folks. At best, he is what I call the ‘old farmer’ type: a stolid person who truly reminds you of a farm animal you can respect.
Emperor is pictured heavy set on his throne which has rams’ heads on it, sitting upright, wearing robes over armor and a crown. His eyes are directed to his right and his lips are pursed in disapproval – to me.
Advice is to be leery of dealing with authority – whether father, boss or president – because you won’t be heard, it will be oblivious and ignore your petition. Don’t go to the meeting. That could refer to a job interview. Don’t be party to an agreement or contract with government: it won’t do what it agreed to. Don’t even bother to complain. This refers to a particular meeting with a rigid dictatorial type.
TAROT ANALYSIS
Assume, when you deal with government, that you won’t get what it agreed to.
The old man is oblivious to what his wife is entitled to in their relationship.
The old boys assume females they deal with will be doing without.
They are in power now: The deal is off, and we don’t care if you whine.
Daddy doesn’t listen to mama complaining about how unfair he is to her.
She may as well be militant, she is dealing with the tyrant.
He shortchanges her in the deal as if he isn’t doing that.
Mr. Big isn’t at the meeting when she complains.
The boss has no idea they are complaining about the deal.
He has no idea the old lady is mad, he assumed she agreed to his terms.
Government assumes you are not fair to older women.
Don’t bother complaining about the terms he dictates.
Meet with the head government man, he doesn’t listen to your petition.
Don’t even bother to meet with the old man and the old lady.
Ignore the old lady’s complaints about her relationship with the old man.
He has no intention of doing his part in the court ordered agreement to pay the victim.

Don’t fight it, just go along with the agreement
Five of Wands
Fool, Four of Swords, Three of Pentacles
Cease all activity: Don’t do another thing in this relationship.
Doesn’t even know he is not an active participant.
Just let them get together and fight: don’t you do it.
Just let them meet with the competition: Don’t be there.
Just let those guys fight with each other, you keep out of it.
Feeling free after a good rest, throw yourself into the project.
Put our heads together and not compete with one another – it’s that easy.
Wasn’t there at the meeting, did not play an active part in it.
No way are they going to desist: They meet and fight.
Agree to forget about the fight, give it a rest.
Agree to forget about sleep and give it all you got.
There is a major contrast here between not doing anything (Four of Swords) and working up a sweat to fight or compete. This is about some meeting, agreement, relationship or project/contract. Then to further widen the possibilities, the other Tarot card involved means to just forget it, be free of it. Hence, all the variety here.
She knows she will eventually marry the man she cares for
Hanged Man
Queen of Pentacles, Ten of Wands, Ten of Cups
She is inspired to make a happy family and she has more than enough ability to do that.
It will take a while before she has enough money for the house she has in her head.
She DOES have the ability to wait until for the happy marriage … she knows this!
Strongly feels that is too much for her to pay for the house.
A very strong feeling she is capable of being very happy together with her man in this house.
Realizes she will eventually have the money for the dream house.
Knows she is making him too happy.
Slowly realizes she manages their joint money.
Aware that eventually she will manage all the money in her marriage.
Well, here we go with the marriage thing again. A woman who takes care of her man, a card that means eventually, slowly, and too much, then one of the positive marriage Tarot cards, then a card that means to know or realize.
